Tulsa vs SDSU Diamond Head Classic
SDSU beat Tulsa today. I do not follow basketball season until January.

For Tulsa fans, is Tulsa any good this year?

Mountain West is a 1 bid league you can just ignore it until March

Owl, Temple is the program I root for. Nothing not to like about Matt Rhule, Fran, etc, and a football program that finally found a way to win after years and years of futility. I even had a quick drink with Matt Rhule last time I was in Philly. Great guy. Don't be this way. It is beneath you.

That's not a mean comment it is reality, I live in Nevada I root for them and am pissed the Mountain West is to the point where they cannot get the wins needed to be an at-large because they are a good team. Also bringing up Matt Rhule who ditched us for Baylor not the best way to get brownie points

You are really upset at Matt Rhule?

Tulsa fans, is Tulsa any good? Aztecs look down again, so I am trying to gauge if this was a quality win or not.

Not a Tulsa fan but they graduated something like 8 seniors last year. My guess is that they'll finish 7th or 8th this year in the American. Maybe 6th if the new guys gel during conference play, but they haven't looked great far.

Sounds about right. SDSU has gotten worse as we have gotten higher rated players.

It was a close with back and forth lead changes until you guys made 7 consecutive three point shots.

We never recovered from that.

It was a good game. I wish we could arrange a H/H series with SDSU.

SDSU has a lot of talent. When they get it going like they did in the 2nd half today, they will be tough to beat. I could see them winning the MWC again this season. Tulsa lost 9 players from last season & is still trying to figure things out.

Problem is, winning the MW, but losing in the MW tourney could be going to the NIT again. Aztec fans have grown accustomed to NCAA Tourney bids. We are a bit spoiled.

Regarding the three pointers. I think that was a fluke. WE have not had good offense since DJ Gay was our PG and that was six or seven years ago.

I read somewhere that the American, MW, and A10 are all one bid leagues this ear? Is that possible? If so it would make for a boring tourney?

No they are not going to all be 1 bid leagues. If I had to guess I would say American is looking at 2-3, A10 2-3, MW 1. Cincinnati, SMU, Temple the only 3 that really gave themselves a chance with a strong conference play for American UConn has the leg up on conference tournament hosting it. VCU, Dayton, Rhode Island all similar chances and Mountain West just didn't have enough resume wins to get an at large regardless of how teams do

Memphis has an outside chance as well with wins over Iowa and Oklahoma and no bad losses. Houston is going to need the tournament pretty much

SDSU was tall, athletic, and quick. I was impressed.

We don't defend the three well at all and they took full advantage of it... as will most of the teams in the AAC.

Lets put it this way Tulsa lost 86% of scoring from last season due to graduation.

At this point Tulsa is simply trying to have a winning season. Don't see us getting to a post season tournament this year. Lost too many players from last season. In the second half against SDSU Tulsa looked lost on offense. We have a long way to go.

I thought Fisher was supposed to make SDSU ranked and a power in hoops? Wonder what happened...I know they were ranked when we beat them in 2014 at home.

Where do you live in Nevada? I live in Reno and went to a couple of Wolf Pack games when Tulsa was in the WAC with them but I can't imagine ever being a Pack fan. They have a pretty good basketball team this year though. I don't know why but I just have a nagging suspicion that Musselman will land them on probation at some point.
