minor bowls
I read a article where it said that most college football players don't give a damn about playing in a minor bowl. Unless you are playing in a major bowl, kids were rather stay home and be with their families. Unless, you start paying these college players money to play in a bowl game, lets say $1000 a player.

RE: minor bowls
Don't agree that"most" college football players would rather not play in a minor bowl. Some surely feel this way, but my son loved his four bowl trips. These guys get some nice gifts from bowl sponsors, are treated really well, and get to play an extra game. Ranking the bowls he went to from best to worst experience.
1] Go Daddy
2] Military Bowl
3] Potato Bowl
4] Pizza Bowl

Most college football players never play in bowl games, or if they do it's a one and done minor bowl. At Toledo we get good opponents and show well. We are not the majority of the G5.

Yeah would really like to analyze who's being surveyed on this & who they represent. If their sample size consists of the entire 2016 Mississippi State Bulldogs roster, for example, I can believe it. If you're asking random MAC players, I mean, what'd they really expect?

I would've believed that "some" players feel that way. But most? I'm skeptical.
Like 046 said, depends on the school. You probably won't find much enthusiasm among the 5-7 teams and probably half of the 6-6 teams (a lot depends on expectations and how you finished the season... Miami excited, CMU not so much).
I get the itch to visit home, but also would think northern teams would appreciate a freebie warm weather trip and an itinerary of touristy activities. You've got a whole adult life of Christmases to enjoy. But free glorified vacations don't happen often.

Good point----if they only interviewed P5 players, especially those from strong P5 programs who often end up in major bowls, then I would expect that they would be disappointed to not be playing around New Year's and a lot might prefer staying home for the holidays whereas for a G5 player, short of getting the access bowl slot, ALL the bowls are "lesser" bowls and none pay a great deal of money or carry high prestige so there is not that much disappointment associated with one bowl vs. another, although there may be some disappointment with the match up (i.e., their opponent).

When I read the article, it was one of those on a obscure internet site. Other then what was said, I wanted to hear from others on this site what your thoughts were.
