In no way is this meant to be a slap in the face of teams as had USM been in either the Boca Raton or New Mexico bowl there's no chance we would've taken the 10k or so we had in New Orleans.

Interesting that the box score on the website of both teams list that the attendance was 0 or was left blank. On the bowl website it list attendance as "capacity of 21,000"

If you haven't already done so, check the stats on ESPN. I think they list attendance.

camellia bowl attendance

I had seen a number somewhere just shy of capacity. That's the one.

The Camellia Bowl looked like a thick crowd. Those attendances aren't horrible, it'll be interesting to compare as we get further into bowl season.

Regional, fan-friendly bowls with a good match-up tend to have decent attendance because of driving distances. I believe our conference should look for such opportunities as some of our contracts expire.

With the attendances of the 3 Miami Beach Bowl games being 20,761 (Memphis vs BYU), 21,712 (WKU vs USF) and 15,262 (Tulsa vs CMU) I could see this game being on the chopping blocks possibly.

I watched the Miami game, there was no way they had 15,000 plus, maybe paid, but actual had to under 10,000. Camellia bowl, App fans at the game estimated we had between 8-10 thousand, Toledo has a much smaller crowd, saw a lot of empty seats, my guess around 17 maybe 18 thousand.

The historic Crampton Bowl only holds 21,000 people. Even if the teams don't travel, Alabama folks are football freaking crazy and will bring fans. Many of these tickets are cheap, free, or are sold through corporate sponsorship. It's a good idea for ESPN, though. Since these games are going to be sparsely attended and they are only played to fill their TV slots, play in tiny stadiums. There should be one in Norfolk, VA. It would be a "packed house." It would look good on TV. Most viewers wouldn't be the wiser.

WKU had a good crowd in Boca. Better than their CUSA championship crowd at home.

I could see the Dollar General Bowl tonight drawing close to 30k with Troy's proximity to Mobile along with Mobile's tradition on supporting the game

32 degrees with a weeks notice in Bowling Green, KY vs 75 degrees in a vacation paradise in South Florida with several weeks of preparation while countless people have time off from work for the Holidays.
