Fournette and McCaffrey Foregoing Bowl Games
Talk amongst yourselves.

Can see this happening at a C-USA school as much or more so at a power school at some point. How would you accept this at your school?

Unless you're playing for a championship I have zero problem or complaint. These are smart decisions. It is ridiculous to pretend college football is anything but big business and it is well past time the players got on board.

Until we get a true playoff system I would hope more players do it.

I'd hate it if Ace Wales had come out before the Boca Bowl and said he was sitting. Or more fitting Forest Lamp who is picked to go decent in the draft.

But I do understand someone like a running back that has a potential decent draft pick doing it in the nobody cares bowl. Go back and watch Leon Allen's injury. All it takes is one high pass and career over.

Doesn't mean I love it. But I do get it.

No problem at all with potential draft picks doing this. What I really don't like are graduate transfers that transfer to play but don't attend class. Tech had two grad linebackers Dalton Santos and Harris that already graduated from UT-Austin and Iowa State but couldn't pass classes at Tech. These two were academically ineligible for CUSA Championship and the upcoming bowl game.

BTW did Leon Allen play any this year?

Never played a down. Just from rumors he never really rehabbed like he was supposed to. He certainly had pro potential pre injury. Sad case.

If they are grad transfers and they couldn't pass at LT it probably means someone else took their courses for them at their previous school. Most likely those two had probably never seen the inside of a classroom unless it was something like #BasketWeaving 101 or #CrochetingForBeginers.

Either that or they just didn't actually care about graduate work and just used it as an excuse to play football one more year. Maybe they forgot Tech is on the quarter system? At a semester school the term wouldn't have ended until after the CCG.

Most schools wouldn't hesitate to take the scholarships back if their "student"-athletes had career ending injuries. It's all about squeezing every last drop of blood out of the football "turnip".

I don't like it. Plus, this could be setting a very bad precedent.

If potential NFL draftees start skipping bowl games, what's to prevent them from also just quitting their team after 9 or 10 regular season games? Especially if their team has been determined to be mathematically removed from any conference championship possibilities?

The point is, if an athlete wants to skip a bowl game to assure he doesn't get injured, doesn't his same concerns exist for the last 2 or 3 regular season games?

Im pretty sure someone( can't remember his name) decided to shut it down after he got hurt this year and dropped out of school so he could rehab and prepare for the draft. As stated earlier coaches do it all the time and no one bats an eye.

I dont like coaches leaving before bowl game and I dont like players quitting on their teams before the season is over. I think it says a lot about them as competitors and lack of regard for teammates who this might be the highlight of their athletic career.
