Boom
looks like JMU moved up a spot from last week from 41 to 40 there may be still some slight further upward movement as bowl games conclude and ratings updated and ofcourse a couple of points if Jmu wins the NC.

Massey has a matchup simulator. Pretty cool. Not sure if this is new but interesting to see some of the predictions.
On neutral sites:

I think top FCS teams get a big over-rating on Massey.
Massey has us beating schools like Michigan St., South Carolina, Navy, Memphis, etc., some of them by more than a TD, and playing teams like UNC or Pitt close. I see none of that happening more than once out of 10 games played.

We're a 5 point dog to UNC and they win 2 out of every 3 games based on win probability %. Seems right to me with who we've beaten since and how the team is playing now vs Week 3. Maybe a little inflated.

I still think that is a score you'd see only once out of 10 games if we're on point all game. The other 9 look more like week 3. But that's ok, we don't need to beat UNC, we just need to take care of YSU, which I say happens 10 times out of 10. And it won't be close.

It shows us winning @ ECU by 2 TD but kind of pointless given so many changes from year to year.

Unless there are big offseason changes at ECU and/or JMU, that is a game I see us winning, and quite easily. Sagarin ratings/predictor would also support a JMU win. A road trip there would be fun.
Maybe folks are forgetting just how good NDSU is? They have beaten a number of FBS squads, including #13 Iowa this year. JMU is a legit top 50 or better team, and some of the FBS schools are not, including South Carolina, Navy and others mentioned. Belonging to the SEC doesnt magically bestow greatness, though some of their alums seem to think so.

What I mean is we're losing 3/5 our starting OL, our #1 and #3 receivers, our #1 RB, our D-Captain and starting MIKE Backer and who da fug knows what's going to happen to Alls and Hereford? All that taken into account plus the possibility of injuries on both teams (and to the fact I have no idea what's happening to ECU starters), I stand by my assertion that it is way too early to make a prediction based on current Saragin ratings and Massey predictors.

Oh its worse than that. Of the 5 JMU WR with more than 5 receptions, 3, and maybe 4, are gone. Top WR this season:
1. Ravenel- Sr
2. Alls- rJr suspended for 1st 3.5? games (Is he even back- remember he was booted from Duke's football team).
3. Taylor- Sr
4. Davis- Sr
5. Miller Jr

Hyman and Miller will be our top WRs next year barring any transfers. That's a good start, but not enough. I think Hyman will have a really good year, though. He's been underutilized due to some off-field issues before the season and the emergence of Alls.
I don't think we see Alls at JMU next season. I think he was on thin ice already and this suspension just sealed the deal.
My guess is, barring no transfers, we see Hyman and Stapleton on the outsides and Miller in the slot. I don't know what Stapleton is capable of, but he's been on the hands team all season and was seen as a pretty good get when recruited. I'll be curious to see if Braxton Westfield ends up developing into a nice option. Big guy with good hands, only moderate speed, though. I don't know anything really about the freshman coming in.
My hope is for another Domo or 2 to come our way via JuCo or FBS transfer.

I was there from 88 to 94 (yeah yeah) and I always felt like basketball was a tremendous disappointment. We only went to the dance once, and I felt like we were always losing to the #8 seed in the CAA tournament, and Lefty would be out there demanding an at-large bid, then we'd lose in the first round of the NIT anyway.

Yeah, 76 to 82 here. It looks like several of us were on the 6 year plan. It was Madison College and the Dukes were D-III when I started.
