AFSCME Dinner
Last night we attended a special event at WMU. Every year the AFSCME union voluntarily organizes a holiday dinner for foster care alumni who attend WMU (largest program of its kind in the nation ). These are young people who have survived abuse, neglect, living in foster care, and in some cases homelessness. They are now thriving at WMU thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff and wonderful volunteers like the folks at AFSCME. So much to be proud of at WMU.

This is another thing WMU can be proud of.Not sure if other Universities in Michigan do a similar thing but WMU does a nice job of publicizing this program . It has helped young people make their way in the world once they age out of foster care. Many success stories out there.

RE: AFSCME Dinner
Nearly every public university in the state now has a similar program. WMU was the flagship and is the largest and remains the go to university for expertise and consulting by nearly every university across the nation.

BC, I think you are being humble here. You are an instrumental figure it this area at WMU and elsewhere. Very much a champion! Thank you.

Thanks, it's a team effort by a lot of dedicated Broncos. It started eight years ago and now I'm just the water boy. Incredibly proud of how far it's come. John Dunn was instrumental.
