Are you sure you didn't accidently look up their basketball arena or softball field?

Football stadium is 22.5k with room for nearly 25k if you squeeze people into the berm. The new side was built to handle seats on top, but we can't sell out consistently as it is, so there hasn't been a reason to even dream of expanding yet.

Was built to expand up to around 44k, until we are able to expand our fan base the stadium we have works and we need to focus on maxing out what we have. WKU has extremely nice facilities for all sports but our football stadium was built to grow as the school grows

Um I have seen your facilities . Have family near Bowling Green. WOuld not come close to calling what WKU has nice. It was actually quite sad when I saw WKU athletics facilities.

MTSU has a high school stadium that they cannot get half full. MTSU is located in a large metro area but receives almost no coverage from the local media.

Your on the AAC board razzing, I get it. It must be a great distraction for you knowing that your school returns to a conference that has not hope going forward for tv or additional fans. MTSU has peaked. That sucks for your guys.

Oh, and your great Moderator, lol. Your stir more stuff than almost anybody on the CUSA web site. Its quite the joke that you are one actually.

No. I had just seen the end of the thread. I actually feel bad after that last post. Sorry!!

I don't come to this board much. We do have very nice facilities, just not at 50,000 seating capacities.

RE: ODU and WKU
I could see ODU as a good strategic add. Very good TV market Tidewater Va has 4 million population. We could stair step the east coast with the two Florida schools, ECU, Navy, Temple, Uconn. Lots of TV's up the coast. Rich recruiting grounds. ODU has good basketball and baseball. They would need to expand their stadium.

If we could add ODU, Army, BYU, & Air Force. We would have a nice league with nice growth potential to knock some doors down in the future. May want to add Wich St & VCU for olympic sports as well.

I respectfully am going to have to say you are incorrect. Western has some of the best facilities in the G5, and one of the best in basketball in the country. When Stansbury cam here after Miss State and TAMU, he said he wished he had the facilities Western has when he was in the SEC.

If all you care about is seating capacity, then you obviously will think our facilities are trash. But they are the right size for our fanbase, and the quality of those "small" venues is phenomenal. We are even building an adjacent IPF here soon.

All that notwithstanding, I doubt WKU ever gets in the AAC and wish people would stop talking about it. People on this board are right, if you have poor attendance, then you must be a top tier academic institution, which WKU obviously is not. Athletics-wise, WKU has absolutely dominated CUSA in it's first three years as far as overall conference championships in several sports, with one of the best football teams in G5 the last few years, and a basketball history few can scoff at. WKU would likely be a top tier member of the AAC in athletics, and would be a better member than half the AAC, however that is not what conference realignment is all about.

What are you basing your analysis on? I just dont see it. Western takes props which you could not have in AAc.

Driving by a stadium does not equate with "seeing the facilities". Have you been in the facilities, walked the halls, the weight rooms, the locker rooms, the team meeting spaces, etc.? I doubt it. Nearly all of our facilities have been upgraded to state of the art facilities, both basketball and football as well as others in the last 10 years, over 100 million dollars worth of improvements. Yes, the stadium is currently small but anyone who says our facilities are sad demonstrates a total lack of knowledge about college athletic facilities.

Link to WKU Facilities Virtual Tour

Regardless, WKU will never receive an invite from the AAC because we have a small market. I'm OK with that and most WKU fans know that as well. We didn't start this thread nor did WKU fans create any of the other WKU to AAC threads on any of these message boards.

I do however believe that ODU, should AAC have openings when the B12 moves again, will be at the top of the AAC list of potential invites.

Throw any sport out there and lets compare, Memphis has been better than WKU in recent years in basketball, but overall history not so much. The rest of the sports might lean toward WKU. I agree with the other WKU fans, we are not going anywhere other than CUSA .... we just dont fit the pattern for a move unless we just become extremely dominant and then we would be more attractive. But to say WKU's facilities are sad is just being uneducated or biased

Hmmmm....

Memphis final fours - 3 (championship appearances - 2)

WKU final fours - 1

As a matter of fact, I would reverse your statement. Y'all have been better than us over the last 5 years. Before that - not so much.

I agree Memphis has went deeper into the tournament than WKU, but beyond that it would be hard to separate. Both are great basketball programs which is why i want a series started so much. This all started by somebody saying our facilities was garbage which just is falase

Old Dominion seems that they are on equal footing with the AAC with the spending, a known quality, the tv market, and a recruiting base to recruit from. Their first bowl appearance this year with a win shows that they could be competitive in the AAC.

Southern Mississippi is a well known brand.

UMass. is being lobbied to join the AAC by UConn for travel partners for all sports.

Western Kentucky is on the lower end of the spectrum.

Army, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Ohio U. and Buffalo all also been rumored as expansion candidates when the rumors about the Big 12 could take between 3 to 4 teams.
