RE: Embarrassing
You guys can keep telling yourselves this, but it doesn't make it true. The fact is, we got embarrassed by a freaking C-USA team. I don't care if they are the C-USA champs, they are still C-USA, and we didn't even compete. We got pantsed. And that may not matter to you, but what it DOES do is further drive the narrative that we (AAC) are no better than any of the other G4 conferences. No, no one will care about the outcome of this particular game, but at the end of the bowl season, all the pundits - the people who shape public perception - will be show-casing the bowl records and inferring (and in turn implying to their audience) that the P6 narrative is without merit.

At the moment...
1-3 out of 7 bowls

RE: Embarrassing
I know a lot of SEC fans who were watching the game and commenting on it because it was the only game on. People saw it.

I don't know how much it means, but taken with the performance of the rest of the AAC so far, it's not very encouraging.

Bowls like the 'Boca Raton' accomplish 2 things:

1) Many valuable practice sessions.
2) Provide a reward for the team.

That is all.

You got it. Plus recruiting advantages.

Just doesn't matter. Matters to you because you have school/conference pride. Doesn't matter to anyone outside. Doesn't matter to P5 executives and doesn't matter to recruits.

Last year was the same thing from the AAC

Time to stop looking down our noses at other G-5 leagues

Tried to bring it with your very first post.

Gotta be a CUSA guy. I'm guessing UAB. You were hoping to talk smack after the basketball game a couple of weeks ago. That didn't work, so you've been looking for another opportunity.

I got it, didn't I?

bingo. Plus the kids get bowl gifts and get to pocket the travel money.

And get to party on the beach

Unless you are in the playoffs it really don't matter
If that's the truth then why play all year unless it's just to win the Conference title!! Because we ain't going to no final 4 bowl championship game even if we go 13-0..

We lost a bowl game. 1-2 in bowl games over the last 3 years. 3 years in a row of bowls. Embarrassed? I wish we'd have won, but embarrassed to be in a bowl again? I'll take that over larry porter style any day, with those teams, the embarrassment was over in November. not embarrassed.

Embarrassing? Meh. But, I'm a bit surprised by some of the indifference to losing this game. Make no mistake. It's ALWAYS important for your program to play well to a national audience.

Yes it is. Helps with our recruiting, conference prestige, and future decisions by the networks on whether or not to televise our games. That being said, I'm not embarrassed by this loss to WK - they were the better team. I think our odds of beating them if we played again next week would be less than 50%. We need better defensive talent.

But we can go to a New Year's Day bowl. Winning the conference at least is something. A stupid bowl where only the gamblers are watching besides us is different. We lost our butt on this trip

Agree they accomplish that. Also provides the most important moment for us nationally (more people see it than our game vs Temple, etc). Important for image i.e. recruiting. There is no positive that comes with a loss IMO. Appreciate your positive spin, but it's a loss.

you think more people saw our game last night than the Houston one? If so, when is our invite to the Big 10?

Exactly. Nobody cares about the Boca Raton Bowl except for the fans of the teams playing.

Incorrect. Bowl games have good ratings.

TV metrics are fine, but the majority of people in our country will not know or care who won the prestigious Boca Raton bowl. Does it matter to recruits? I guess we'll see, but probably not. We already have a lot of commits. I doubt we will have many (if any) defections b/c we lost a crappy bowl game.

What probably would garner some attention is if we were playing in a NY6 bowl. If you win a game like that, it certainly has the potential to impact recruiting and your program as a whole. The only problem with that (being in the AAC), is it almost certainly means you're gonna lose most of you coaching staff the next year.

What is embarrassing are the many posts criticizing our first year coach who took a first year QB and not many highly rated players and won 8 games and kept interest in the program at a high level. Also is recruiting well. You would think he would be appreciated.
