Jahmal McMurray transferring from USF basketball
The mediocrity-besieged melodrama that has become USF basketball took another abrupt twist Tuesday when USF sophomore PG Jahmal McMurray requested -- and was granted -- his release.
"This morning, Jahmal McMurray informed me of his intent to transfer from USF," Coach Orlando Antigua said in a school news release issued an hour before Tuesday night's home game against Northern Illinois.
McMurray was averaging 20.3 points per game this season since his return, after being suspended for the first six games of the season.
A member of the American Athletic Conference's All-Rookie team last season, McMurray briefly explored his NBA draft status this past summer, but withdrew his named from consideration well before the deadline and never hired an agent.
He becomes the 13th player with eligibility remaining to depart (or be dismissed from) the program since Stan Heath's dismissal as coach in March 2014.

Bummer. Potentially best player at @UAbasketball AA Camp counselor games this summer. How did he get out of Topeka?
