Memphis to the ACC
Would Memphis be a viable addition? Gives you a new market, up-and-coming football program, great hoops program.

I think UConn, Cincy, Temple or any one of 8 Big 12 schools would be chosen over Memphis.

No. I like Memphis a lot, but UM isn't going to get an ACC invite, and the Tigers wouldn't be a good fit.

B12? Maybe (hopefully) someday. ACC? No.

And you couldn't ask for a nicer or more intelligent group of fans...

I like it.

Memphis stretches the ACC's geography right now in not a good way. If the ACC built a TX based Pod after the B12 gets gobbled up...then they could be a player.

No ... not viable at all.

The ACC doesn't need great hoops programs, but if it did, UConn is actually a great program. I don't think Memphis can be called great. Memphis is good. But mot quite great yet.

Nope, ND has to come in and that would not be one of the choices. If a team comes from the AAC it will be Cinci or Houston. ACC wants in the Texas Market.

RE: Memphis to the ACC
Memphis is a community college compared to the rank and file ACC. Their endowment is about 12% of the ACC median and just 33% of the ACC lowest. They have no Phi Beta Kappa chapter, they are not ranked by ARWU - there is nothing in common. All they have is Fed Ex.

They also have a football stadium and basketball arena that sits within 120 miles of the center of the New Madrid seismic zone. One moment you go back for a pass, the next minute you are sliding into the Mississippi River.

No thanks.

Cincinnati, UConn and Houston, Temple, Navy are the only AAC schools that would show up on ACC Radar as expansion candidates if ND were to come on board in football.

Just wondering ... what's the ACC's/NC's beef with UConn? From an outsider's POV they seem like a good fit for the ACC.

(If a big issue/discussion, a separate thread please.)

I agree. Shouldn't it at least be a Memphis fan stirring this pot? I personally haven't seen or heard one Memphis fan bring up possible ACC membership. I think the OP should be asking that question about his or her own school. 07-coffee3

Well, for starters UConn spearheaded a frivolous lawsuit against the ACC back when Miami et al. left the Big East. Plus there is no love lost between UConn and BC.

RE: Memphis to the ACC
In order to have contiguous states, you need West Va (WVU) or an Ohio school (Cincy) to bridge the gap with Kentucky (Louisville). So I would prefer one of those first or both.
