76-29.

Thank God that McGillis is gone. Maybe the new guy will want his own coach.

Wonder if LC will leave his play dough coliseum for the new guy to drag around in his trunk.

86-44 final. MSU with school record 17, 3-pointers. Sadler is a joke. he should resign with the AD.

Again, this is a team comprised of players whose best option to play college ball was at Southern Miss during an ongoing NCAA investigation, and it's missing its starting point guard right now to boot.

This is gonna stay downright ugly at least until Price comes back, and even then it may only upgrade to "bad."

Billy Mac could take it as a memento in case it ever actually gets built.

Cant wait for the day that the light bulb goes off in your head and you realize (or are finally convinced) that Sadler is terrible. i will then ask you if he just became terrible that day or if he was actually terrible the day he walked on campus (like i've said). cant wait to see how you and others will answer. i can hear it now, "but, but, but, we didn't know if he sucked bc he didn't have a chance bc of DT and the investigation. now that he's been here 4 years, we can finally determine that he sux". my reply, "right...just like i said all along. sorry it took y'all so long to figure it out."

Nobody's ever confused him with Pitino or Calipari, but he's not as bad as this roster is making him look, either. He had 150 wins in 8 years as a head coach before coming here. He's been a part of more NCAA teams than probably all our previous coaches combined, and was the head coach of 5 NCAA & NIT teams, vs. 13 for us as a program all-time (2 of which are likely coming off the books now). To anyone with a whit of intelligence and critical thinking skills, it's far, far more likely that we're bringing him down at the moment than vice-versa.

Odds are he finishes out his contract and we part ways, and I'm fine with that, but anyone who wants to argue that he's even remotely stood a chance here so far needs their head examined.

Maybe so Harbor, but his first team had talent, and they were bad before all the player dismissals. I remember sitting courtside vs Rhode Island and our team getting whipped in every way, and thinking to myself... I hate you Doc Sadler. A few weeks later we found out about the ncaa investigation

That's a reasonable observation, and I felt the same way before the news broke. However, surely, the school & team had to know something was going down at least that long before anything was publicly announced. If the soon-to-be-dismissed Tyndall signees knew the gig was about to be up, what motivation did they even have to give a crap at that point?

A 30-0 run?

The intramural champs would probably put up more fight than that.

Doc's first team had SOME talent. Not much. Armelin and Norville Carey were the best players on that team. But they had been afterthoughts on tyndalls teams.

Just so no one's confused here, I'm not attached to Sadler. If the new AD comes in and says, "With the scandal now behind us, I think it's just best for the program to wipe the slate clean and give the program a completely fresh start," I'd be fine with it.

I just don't think Doc deserves all the criticism being piled atop him for the current results. Anyone put in his position deserves at least one more year, I'd even argue 2, to have any kind of chance for success. Probably more than any other sport, college basketball is about the Jims and Joes more than the Xs and Os, and he's had zero shot at assembling any more than a collection of the sport's refugees.

Matt Bengaya was on that team.

Shadell Millinghaus, who is now averaging over 8 pts and 3 rebounds on a good Texas Tech team, was on that team.

Davon Hayes, now averaging over 13 pts and 5 rebounds for Jay Ladner, was on that team.

And Aaron Brown transferred out to Boston College when Doc arrived. He avgd nearly 15 pts for them in the ACC.

Rashan Suarez was a highly recruited juco point guard that was starting before he was ruled ineligible.

Dallas Anglin was a Doc juco signee that was pretty good. He came in with one of the assistant coaches from juco. He left midseason.

That was, by far, the most talented roster Doc has had at Southern Miss.

I realize it was his most talented team here. I watched most of their games and didn't think it was any more than a middle of the pack team in C-USA before all the attrition.

Preseason, I thought it was a top 6 CUSA team, but then quickly felt they were no better than 8-10 because of the coaching (or lack thereof) they were getting.

I actually was very unhappy with his coaching the first part of that year also. It was like he didn't care. But later that year he did a complete 180 and looked way more involved. Also thought he did a good job last year. This year, not so much.

While I understand your opinion and I don't necessarily disagree, I think it's time to wipe the slate clean. I don't put the blame completely on Doc for our lack of success this year or any of the past two years, but I have to ask myself: Do I think things are going to change in 1-2 years? The only thing I come up with is no. I'd love to be proven wrong. But I'd love more to start over, get a new coach, renovate RGC, and get our program to a place where it's competing for conference titles every year.
