How many people did we bring when we played there? Couldn't have been much more

Can a bowl survive with that type of small attendance?

RE: Miami Bowl
The USF vs WKU actually had a decent attendance, (22-24k) this years game was really bad.

Any idea what TV pays to broadcast the game? Clearly, the local Miami business community didn't see much benefit from that crowd.

attendance does not directly affect bowls at the lower level. Those tickets are 'sold' through the league guarantee. It could cause sponsors to shy away, who wants to be associated with a micky mouse operation...

these bowls are a tv production that a few people attend, kind of like studio wrestling back in the day

Then they should consider smaller venues. That's just embarrassing.

It is a baseball park with a capacity half of decent sized football stadiums.

RE: Miami Bowl
Within twenty years, the CFP will include at least 12 teams and going to bowls will be like playing in the NIT CBI.

RE: Miami Bowl
Probably the most ill conceived bowl out there, and that is saying a lot. Everything is bad about it except for the weather.

Location - Miami. Locals don't care, and the teams are thousands of miles away.
Venue - baseball stadium with a football field shoehorned in.
Opponent - rotation of MAC, Sunbelt, and CUSA teams. For variety or to ensure a crappy draw?
Date - before Christmas.
Day - Monday. A traditional college football day it isn't.
Time - 2:00 in the afternoon so nobody with a job can watch.
Payout -peanuts.

Thankfully, the conference didn't hatch this beauty, we are just along for the ride. Oh wait, the AAC is the founder, the owner, and the operator.

yea, ESPN owns the bowl and its existence is simply to have TV filler. Same with our game tonight.

RE: Miami Bowl
For the college football junkie, who cares about attendance. I watched the game yesterday and happy to see the AAC win a bowl game in a decisive fashion. Yes, it was against the MAC, but it was still a decently played game.

Attendance will be down on most bowls up until next week. But I bet ratings are still decent.

Hey...Some of us even paid for local kids to go yell for us last time we were in Florida.

They sent me a great photograph of the kids wearing Memphis gear.
It's around here somewhere. lol
