Pretty impressive. Only loss is #33 UNC.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
According to Sagarin, we are 5 point favorites vs. Youngstown State. 31-26 predicted score.

JMU is now the #1 FCS team on Sagarin and YSU is #4, trailing NDSU and EWU despite their losses.

I disagree. Taking a knee is telling them "you and I both know I've won. Tap out and we can all go home." Take the win and be a gentleman about it.

Honestly we did that, and then the other team went and ran plays. Show no mercy

What is the scoop on our O-line? Will we be at full strength for the NC game?

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
I am glad Mike Houston and company are not taking YSU lightly. This is a team that has been improving on all sides of the game since NDSU. My worry is that the team focused on beating NDSU so much that the NDSU game was their championship game. I would hate for them to think they have already won the game, when they still have to pay a really good team in YSU.

Agree, NO MERCY. This is a "Count of Monte Cristo" type revenge game for the Dukes!

Wow, that's crazy. If you look at some of those schools we are ahead of like Houston, TCU, a bunch of SEC schools. What a time to be a Duke 01-ncaabbs

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
Youngstown had to play 4 games including nutty OT game vs Wofford and E Wash's crazy game where they caught it on someones back to win. They have to be pretty happy themselves with the situation.

There have been very few dead spots, it feels like this staff does a great job and getting them up each week. I would imagine they'll be able to do same here with a couple weeks of prep.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
What amazes me is that most on AGS and other sites are picking YSU to win. You would think we are the underdogs in this game.

Y'all should take YSU to the wood shed. Just prepare for the game and y'all will be fine.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
Pelini is a good coach and, like Houston, has surrounded himself with strong, experienced coaching talent. That they got hot at the right time and made it to the Championship despite not being seeded is a testament to this. It's going to be a tough game.

I'd take that AGS poll with a grain of salt. You have to remember that most posters on that board are MVFC fans. There's this unspoken conference loyalty where they pull for each other. Couple that with the many salty NDSU fans who want to see us lose and it's not surprising that 40% of the posters want to see JMU lose.

It's a poll of "what do you want to happen", not "what do you honestly, deep deep down, think will actually happen".

Worry not. The time between the semis and the final will be more than enough to avoid an NDSU hangover. If there were only one week between games, then yeah, for sure I'd have the same concern.

Another reason I don't think we'll let down: Our guys expected to win that game. They knew it'd be tough, but they didn't go into the game with hopefulness. They went in confident and it showed.

YSU is a great team, too, and has improved. But this is JMU's year.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
My prediction is based upon current information, 3 weeks out. This is also assuming we get back either Kirsch or Rigney. Assuming we won't have Alls and Hereford, and assuming all of YSU's currently suspended players are out:

JMU 45
YSU 17

Specifically:

-We advance one kickoff or punt return at least 40 yards.
-Brian Schor with 3 passing TD's and 1 rushing TD
- Khalid Abdullah with 1 rushing TD and 1 receiving TD. 138 yards rushing, 42 yards receiving.
- Trai Sharp with 1 rushing TD and 74 yards rushing.
-Tyler Gray with a 28 yard field goal

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
Some YSU I-AA Championship Trivia:

YSU has won four national championships in 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1997. They appeared in four consecutive title games from 1991-1994. Six title game appearances with a 4-2 record. Their wins are over Marshall (1991 and 1993), Boise State (1994) and McNeese State (1997). Their losses were to Marshall (1992) and Georgia Southern (1999).

Their four titles are good for 3rd most all time in I-AA/FCS history behind Georgia Southern (six) and North Dakota State (five).

They were a dominant I-AA force throughout the 1990s under Jim Tressel. Tressel was the historic Ohio State coach as well and is now YSU's university president.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
This is the fifth meeting between JMU and YSU all time. JMU is 1-3 in previous match-ups with regular season losses at home (31-15 in 1990), a loss at Youngstown in 1991 28-21, a win at Youngstown in 1992 52-49 and a playoff loss in 2006 at Youngstown 35-31.

Seriously, **** those refs in that 2006 game. I think I remember a controversial PI call?
