How NIU Football Prepared...Just in case...
Great read....
Quote:Frazier began getting text messages and email about what was happening at Minnesota on Thursday evening and immediately knew what that meant. It was time to start making calls.
He informed his president and board of regents. Then he had to get his staff moving. Eight straight bowl appearances by NIU made Frazier's staff "seasoned veterans" when it came to bowl preparation.

RE: How NIU Football Prepared...Just in case...
Bowl games have begun!
More feel proud NIU FBnews!
San Diego State who beat NIU by two TD's, thrashed highly touted AAC powerhouse Houston
34-10. So San Diego State who were underdogs beat giant killer Houston by 24 points.
Pumphrey was taken out early after breaking Ron Dayne of Wisconsons career rushing record!
This is good news for NIU! Houston the non-MAC G5 powerhouse lost by 10 more points to a common opponent. More impressive for NIU FB was that NIU remained competitive for longer than Houston did.
San Diego State has a great defense, arguably better than Houston.
Remember NIU put up 28 points against that Defense which has the most picks in the country@

Whoa, bowl publicity without getting our butts kicked or discussion of why we are going to get smoked. We got the best of both worlds.
And to the following post...I respectfully disagree with doing moral victories of how we lost by a lesser amount, yada yada.

We'd still better be prepared until the last bowl game just in case another team drops out.

Yeah, we should keep preparing.
You never know who has info on a team.
Is it possible we could replace the other Huskies vs Alabama, or would they put PSU there and NIU in the Rose Bowl vs. USC?
Maybe we could up our 'streak" vs. Alabama to 2!

That's actually a pretty good movie script. Maybe I'll write that. Downtrodden football team that was once glorious gets the eleventh hour nod to replace the number one team in the nation in the college football playoffs. Against all odds, they band together and play the game of their lives to advance to the national title game.

Vegas, I love the movie script idea.

The loss to Western Illinois just absolutely killed our season. No reason that should have happened.

Not sure who will play him, but at times I am convince he and Jon Lester are the same person. Height, build, hair, expressionless look.

Lester's a good pick. Or a mannequin.

yep, that's the one. You can look at the rest and see some good teams and some unfortunate bounces of the ball, but getting behind by THAT much, getting beaten in EVERY aspect for the first 60% of the game? Goodness, I have no idea what happened, but it can never happen next season.

Leach would've gone all out to put up 100 and wouldn't have batted an eye...
