Army/Navy should be played in Hawaii the weekend before Labor Day
Will still be all eyes on them, there won't be any conceived notions of that year's teams, won't screw up the Access bowl (or an expanded playoff), and is allowed because it won't be played in the 48 contiguous states.
Not to mention the deep military ties and history connected to Hawaii and it makes perfect sense. Also the option to have it in prime time on the east coast but 4 PM local time.

I agree and have advocated this so that Army can join the conference.

I like your outside the box thinking. Promote this man to the bowl committee, the CFP committee and make him the AAC commissioner once Aresco retires.

Actually, Thanksgiving Day would be amazing for this game.
But in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA, or NYC.

The reason it will NEVER be played in Hawai'i is because that would make it impossible for the Corps of Cadets and the Corps of Midshipmen to attend.

Interesting, but there is too much competition from the NFL.

Terrible idea. Let it be. Nobody is shipping all the Cadets and Midshipmen to Hawaii for the game, and when it is played now is fine. It has a lot more tradition than all of a sudden worrying about a little inconvenience if Navy happens to be in the running for the G5 access slot. Dumb.

FedEx field is lame and RFK is too old. Might as well have it in Annapolis
BTW, it has been played in New York Sh!tty before, in addition to Bodymore, Murderland and Killadelphia..

It used to be played on the Saturday after Thanksgiving... Just saying.
Moving back to Thanksgiving or the weekend would not be a huge issue. Far less an issue than moving to the Opening Week of the Season.

Well, you certainly got me there... Wow.
Let's see:
-Philadelphia: Philadelphia is roughly equidistant from both academies.
-Washington DC: Yes, RFK needs to be condemned, but FedEx field is fine. DC is closer to the USNA, but obviously works for the President, who traditionally attends the game as well as any number of Admirals and Generals as well. Sorry, you don't like the stadium.
-Baltimore: I admit, I forgot Baltimore. Would basically be a "home" game for the USNA... Not a problem as I see it, assuming it was in a rotation.
-NYC: A home game for the USMA-"West Point", would balance out Baltimore. Two stadiums to chose from now.
The reality is that it's too big a game to move to "on-campus" stadiums. So you have to allow for a pro-stadium somewhere. And it's not moving off the east coast, which leaves you NYC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and DC. That's life.

Please enlighten us simpletons on where it shouldn't be played. Use lots and lots of hateful words to do it, as well.

RE: Army/Navy should be played in Hawaii the weekend before Labor Day
In fact the two schools are entertaining bids from interested host cities now. 2018 on - last bid process was supposed to be 5 years but they tacked a couple on.
- Basically, NFL stadium is starting point. Number of seats plus amenities
- Big sticking point is requirement to transport ALL the cadets and midshipmen - a lot of cities have started out interested then been unable to make the numbers work.
- Therefore, doesn't HAVE to be on the east coast, but....(what if a bid from a city came with an agreed airline partnership/sponsorship to fly everyone in?)
- Rose Bowl in '82 is the farthest.
- Chicago in 2026 would have historical centenary significance.
- Philly likely to remain the lead / majority of times candidate
- Baltimore does great
- Meadowlands doesn't do much for me personally, but works (note, we have ND there in '20)
Don't mess with the date...which also argues against bringing Army into the conference. If it is on Thanksgiving weekend, even if only 2 out of every 4 or 6 years, NO WAY it gets 7.9 million viewers. Basically, you are devaluing a property you already own half of...quickly hit point of diminishing returns

Real football, you know "The Monsters of Midway" football, should always be play in the cold and snow. It was where real men had to go mono on mono. Today everything is based on speed and you can't touch the QB. Is this track an field or football?

Exactly correct. The date is fine the way it is.
By the way, if Army comes into the AAC, you simply leave the game as an OOC game. They would be in opposite divisions and would never meet in regular conference play. Their game would always be the same date and would be considered an OOC game after each had already played their 8 game regular season and the AAC CCG had concluded. The only time Army and Navy would ever met in league play would be if they played for the AAC championship. That would be one of those weird little things that makes college football interesting.

I love Army and Navy, but this game is not moving. They are not changing decades of tradition for the selection committee, the AAC or anyone else. We have to accommodate them, and that's perfectly fine.
