He was Rhule's boss at Albright College and Western Carolina. He's basically a slightly older Rhule with more major college experience, and a little bit more 'hip' with recruiting.

Another good interview of Fickell - elevenwarriors is a Buckeye blog but it is a UC centric interview (including the polo shirt Fickell is wearing under his OSU sweatshirt!). By the way - his goal is to compete with OSU for recruits.

While it is unrealistic that we could compete with you, I really like the attitude that we will try to go toe to toe with them.

Definitely a fan of the sentiment. If we're doing what we're supposed to do on the field we can likely offer a compelling case as to why a kid should at least consider UC.

Our margin of error is even slimmer than a P5 school, but we do have a good chance to play in high level bowl games.

I think playing at Michigan (2017), UCLA (2018), Ohio State (2019), and Nebraska (2020) should be a selling point to recruits as well. Those are four historic venues and a UC win in any of those game would easily be in the school's all top 10 victories. Besides playing Ohio State and Michigan, future local recruits might be interested in having home and home series with Miami Oh, Ohio U, Marshall and Indiana. Playing regional teams provides some balance to national type schedule UC plays in the American.

Sounds particularly stupid now considering that from a Cincinnati perspective the school up north is tO$U.

Someone asked him at the UC press conference about the first road game of the season. He said Michigan.

I should have talked to my neighbor earlier who knew of the hiring a week before announced. His grandkids go to the same Catholic grade school as Luke's kids. His grandson came home and told his parents his buddy was upset that they were probably moving to Cincinnati.

If they go to school in columbus, isn't it possible to move somewhere in between and just up the commute?

Perhaps the school up north is the one in Oxford.
