CUSA would drop MTSU, USM, UNT, and UTSA.
The Sun Belt would drop Idaho, ULL, and stAte.
The MWC would drop UNM, Hawaii and CSU.
The AAC would drop UCF.
The BIG12 would drop Baylor.
The Big10 would drop Maryland and Indiana.
The SEC would drop, Kentucky, and Miss St.
The ACC would drop Wake, and NC st.

What makes you think the Belt would drop it's Co-Champ?

Only one problem. The P5 would lose no one while the G5 would lose seven more teams than listed above. Don't believe it? Go back and look at the history of bowl games. I've lived long enough to remember the number of deserving MAC teams that were left in the cold with only ONE (and sometimes ZERO) schools going bowling.

BINGO!!!

Maybe this is a crazy idea... but why not just put this game in the evening, roll the dice, and let it go head to head against MNF. There has to be some sports fans and non-Fantasy Football guys who just don't care about 6-8 Carolina vs. 7-6 Washington and would prefer a college bowl fix. You might also get a bump in curious onlookers in Miami who are done with work for the day.

Indeed, attendance and TV viewership would still be bad, but maybe it's time to overcome the MNF fear and see how it goes.

You could at least run it in a 5:00 or 6:00 time slot so that it's over by the time MNF rolls around...

If it's between Troy at 9-3 and stAte at 7-5... The fact that the SBC doesnt have a title game yet, inclines me to think Troy would get the nod. Going 0-4 OOC makes stAte un-attractive. Now if there was some contingent that conference title contenders had to make it, then sorry for Troy I guess. Which happened to Toledo in 2000 when we went 10-1 with a loss to WMU who won the division. Even though we beat the MAC champ Marshall 42-0, and knocked off Penn State 24-6.

Don't worry, the AAC fanboys can tell you about how bowl losses don't matter.

The reality is that outside of these fan boards, the only game that will really affect our national perception will be WMU in the Cotton. Winning our G5 games or Miami beating a SEC team would be great, but Western is the big kahuna. And if they win, at least it gives more credence to the idea that WMU getting the access bowl and pushing everybody up a tie-in to a better team than they'd face under normal circumstances.

Solich's plan is to establish a strong ground game.

When it doesn't work he goes to the air. That usually works better as the receivers are underrated.

exactly. and there's a lot of talent at WR too, a competent QB would have a field day. It's one of the big mysteries of Solich's tenure- why can't Ohio land a big time QB?

Spot on. The AAC got of to an 0-4 start last year as well, but all anyone in the media remembers is the Peach Bowl.

The truth is the bowl system is becoming more and more irrelevant due to the introduction of the playoff system. Even the players are beginning to treat the games as little more than exhibitions. I think we're entering a great transition period for college football.

Because it's hard to run on Troys defense is why.

Passing on us has been our weakness. "Run" teams did it too us all year

As I posted on another board there are about 10,800 scholarship FB players in the FBS that won't make it to the NFL. They like the Bowl trips and gifts. The Networks, advertisers, playoff contenders are the one's pushing non relevant Bowls narrative, because it helps line their pockets.
If you want to talk non relevant, regular season NBA games with stars taking the game off or giving a half hearted effort for a quarter or two is the worst.

I agree. The NBA season is kind of like what in sex is called "foreplay". Lol.

I start following the NBA after FB season is over... actually when I see the cherry blossoms in D.C. :)

Actually after March Madness is over...

Reminds me of those two or three SEC teams every year (usually LSU, Auburn, recently Florida) who finish in the upper half of the conference on a great defense and solid running game, but can't find a competent QB for the life of them. OU plus someone like Zac Dysert (who benefited from neither of those) would be lethal.
