To bring it up is to suggest that it has some meaning when in reality it has none.

This is actually a dumb thing to say. You can only earn Electoral votes by way of popular votes. There is no other way.

The facts don't matter in Trump's America.

So you are basically saying since Trump earned the electoral vote, he won the popular vote.

Of course not... They're trying to argue that 51 separate state popular votes is the same as one national popular vote... no matter how ridiculous such a contention is... and thus they back themselves into such ludicrous conclusions like 'you earn electoral vote by the popular vote alone' but that somehow you can win one and lose the other??

They're actually proving the point they're arguing against.

That is correct. The popular vote in any particular state.

If the national popular vote total was what mattered then Trump's campaign would have been run his campaign in a way to maximize that result. Since it doesn't matter he ran his campaign to win what actually does matter, the electoral college, and did. You can't simply transpose the results of this election and say that the outcome would have been different because the election itself would be totally different.

Trump's strategy was excellent. The guy deserved to win. He won fair and square.

Yes. 51 separate popular votes. Not one national popular vote.

That's almost EXACTLY like someone claiming they won the 7 game world series because they scored more runs in aggregate, despite the fact that they lost 4 of the 7 games.

If the goal was to score the most runs over 7 games, managers might have managed differently, i.e. not leaving their starter in when down 6-0 so that they could save the bullpen for the next game.

Would you think it meaningful if one team scored 62 runs over the 7 games and the other 60... if the one that scored 60 won 4 games? Would you think it said something about the quality of the teams?

John

It's Trump's America now. The facts no longer matter, The MSM and CIA are in cahoots to undermine Trump and Infowars, Brietbart and WorldNetDaily are now legitimate news sources.

See? Again you fail to get it.

The facts DO matter. As in it's a FACT that we don't choose our President by a national election and popular vote, or havent you understood that yet?

That should have been covered in History of the World, Part 1.

Go look again. 07-coffee3

Its because Democrats have massively gerrymandered those 3 states just like they accuse Republicans of doing elsewhere.

There are two ways to gerrymander. Spread them out thin across many districts or pack them into as few districts as possible. Conservatives are barred from doing option number 1 so they switch to option number two then blame liberals for their resorting to option number two.

The only people who need to be blamed are conservatives who made the original law necessary and then found a loophole to circumvent it.

So, in other words they're following the law.

Thanks for pointing that out.

No meaning to the results. However it carries a massive symbolic meaning.

Only in your mind. Everyone else see a few large metropolitan cesspools that vote overwhelmingly Democrat and have been run by Democrats for years and years.......that are also rampant with crime, shootings, the highest taxes in the country........and we want no part of that.

So shove that popular national vote (which we don't use) where the sun don't shine.

I want no part of NY, San Fran, LA, Chicago - nope! I'll stay in my safe, no shootings, lower taxed place thank you.

And there you have it.

These are the people that Hillary ignored, that the democratic party ignored. The people who look at big cities and the people in them as cesspools rampant with crime, and shootings.

They truly believe that Mayberry exists and that Andy Taylor is the sheriff.
