UH. It's just good business.
“The reality of it is, ESPN played a key role in helping secure Houston,” said Saccenti, 41. “It’s ABC, Houston is a huge television market, we should pull a pretty good number and it’s an attractive matchup."

Las Vegas Review Journal says getting UH was a safe bet.

It should be a very entertaining game, with Pumphrey trying for the record against our D. ESPN knew what they were doing. I'm glad we're playing this week. Everything about this bowl was good for UH right now. Starting next week. we can focus on filling out the staff.

You right about Pumphrey, BigEastHomer... Ward will make his presence felt almost immediately while Oliver dominates on the other side of the ball.

Should be an entertaining bowl game

I ran 3 sims on my NCAA 14 PS3 game with updated rosters from 16.

UH won all 3. 6-0, 21-13, 24-20.

UH is sure to lose this one now. LOL

While I agree with most of this...not sure I feel everything about this bowl is good for UH. I have to say, the distance, short turn around and less than 14 day notice makes traveling to this game tough. The $450+ airfare on this one is keeping a lot of students and alumni home. My fraternity brothers (we have a group of 13 with group seating/season tickets) and I decided to watch this one on tv after trying to work the logistics/time frame/$ out. It just didn't make since to spend more on The Las Vegas Bowl then we did last year for the Peach Bowl. And according to UHAA, the distance (6 day round trip bus ride) also makes busing students in (as we have often done to bowl games in the past) a no go.

While this sets up for an outstanding game, I'm afraid the over all UH perception to The Las Vegas Bowl Committee may fall a bit short this year.

LV Bowl is not about teams fan attendance, unlike many bowls. . LV has no problem getting people to the town and spending money. LV Bowl is about ratings which UH will deliver. ABC/ESPN knew that.

And I like that UH Admins gave the players a vote.

It will be cool to have a lv bowl trophy in our case too.
