It got a lot tougher to recruit in the state of Florida this off-season...
From USA Today:
Florida schools now have an absurdly good roster of college football coaches.
I started with their list and
beefed it up in a couple of places. Yeah, it's a pretty impressive list!
Jimbo Fisher, Florida State
previous experience: Florida State OC,
77-17 career record, 4-2 in bowl games
2013 BCS National Champions
Jim McElwain, Florida
previous experience: Colorado State head coach, Alabama OC
39-24 career record, 1-1 bowl games
2015, 2016 SEC Eastern Conference title runner-ups
Mark Richt, Miami
previous experience: U of Georgia head coach, Florida State OC
153-55 career record, 10-5 in bowl games
2002, 2005 SEC Champions
Charlie Strong, South Florida (USF)
previous experience: U of Texas head coach, U of Louisville head coach
53-37 career record, 3-3 in bowl games
2011, 2012 Big East Champions
Butch Davis, Florida International (FIU)
previous experience: UNC head coach, Cleveland Browns head coach, U of Miami head coach
79-43 career record, 5-2 in bowl games
1995, 1996, 2000 Big East Champions
Scott Frost, Central Florida (UCF)
previous experience: Oregon OC
6-6 career record, 0-0 in bowl games
Lane Kiffin, Florida Atlantic (FAU)
previous experience: U of Alabama OC, USC head coach, U of Tennessee head coach, Oakland Raiders head coach
35–21 career record, college (5–15 in NFL), 0–2 in bowl games
BOTTOM LINE: That's just re-donk-u-lous! Look, as good as Florida is as a recruiting hotbed, there's just no way all of these guys can have success at the same time... I'm guessing half of them fail and lose their jobs within 4 years, tops (but I suppose I could be wrong). Meanwhile, Florida is going to feel like a very crowded state if you're a college football coach...
