RE: The official welcome to the AAC thread for Wichita State
People keep saying what will WSU be like after Marshall leaves. He is making $3,300,000 a year. Don't you think that kind of number will get a quality replacement?
When Gregg Marshall agreed to remain at Wichita State last week, CBS Sports' Gary Parrish reported he'd receive a new seven-year contract worth an average salary of $3.3 million per season -- already an eyebrow-raising figure that will place Marshall among the highest-paid coaches in college basketball.Apr 6, 2015

And he was offered over 4M to coach at Alabama.
Marshall won't coach forever, but with the fan base and donors we have, along with the success we've been having, we should be able to attract a quality coach. Being in the AAC would only enhance that as it's obviously better than the MVC.
RE: The official welcome to the AAC thread for Wichita State
We've been discussing this topic for a long time on the "little" Tulsa board and it looks like it may actually occur now. It just makes so much sense that many of us didn't think it would happen. But most of us are glad it possibly is. From a TU standpoint it assures us of a guaranteed home game with them every year in all sports they play and its another longtime conference rival in the league. But the league should be just as happy as us because of the strength of their entire sports programs.
If anyone is interested, feel free to go to the Tulsa board and read the thread on this. Its titled "The AAC needs Another Basketball Team!". Lots of links and info and history as well as what occured with the tragic plane crash that ultimately lead to them discontinuing the football prgram. BTW their active site is called "Shockernet" and discussed this move many times.

He didn't go there mostly because its a football school and basketball is and always will be small potatoes at bama (and for most every SEC team).
I would only worry about Marshall leaving at this point if a blue blood comes calling: UK, KU, Duke, UCLA, IU. Or maybe a P5 with good hoops history.
He isnt going to go to just any P5 school just because they throw money at him...see Bama.
