Brandon Doughty is Dolphins back-up
With Ryan Tannehill out to a knee injury yesterday, Dolphins back-up QB is Brandon Doughty. I think, he, now, has a chance that he did not have before as Tannehill was one tough pecker.

That's hopeful for BD

If the Dolphins were out of it, he might play, as long as Moore doesn't look like crap, he probably plays the rest of the way.

RE: Brandon Doughty is Dolphins back-up
Moore's a solid back-up and was competing for the starting job just two years ago.
He's limited athletically but has a quick mind in the pocket. Problem is going to two cold weather sites in back to back weekends probably won't help the timing here much.
It's gut check time.
By the way, the hit on Tannehill was a cheap shot delivered out of frustration, the guy wasn't pushed or anything, just dove late at his knee. Probably some really heated discussions going on right now behind the scenes. I know I'd be pissed losing a franchise QB on an unnecessary hit like that.

The video I saw of the hit didn't seem dirty. Looked like the defender came in unblocked and was going for the midsection before Tannehill side-stepped a bit to avoid the contact. The result was Tannehill going down awkwardly, I am not sure the defender even made any real contact with his knee.

Your comment doesn't make sense, a side-step would not cause Tannehill's knee to be in-line with the hit if he was going for the "midsection". The only thing awkward about the way he went down was the fact he couldn't put any weight on it due his ACL being blown out. And if you say the defender didn't even make any real contact with the knee, then you don't know what you're talking about and just talking ****.

Moore will be the QB, hopefully though BD has progressed enough to at least be back up to finish the season...

Is that the hit in question?
Nvm, Google was failing me this AM and giving me results of old plays. Anyone have a link to yesterday's hit?

If you want to see a cheap shot, watch the Harry Douglas hit yesterday! I see a BIG fine coming his way, or else Aqib Talib will beat the crap out of him at some point!

RE: Brandon Doughty is Dolphins back-up
I have had 9 knee surgeries and I have had it worse than Tannehill, because I also managed to tore up MCL and PCL at the same time as ACL. So, I was heartened a bit when I saw him limp off the field. I remember when I had my injuries, I had difficulty walking off under my own power. But, then, I saw him on the sidelines and the body language and the positioning of his leg suggested that, indeed, this had to be an ACL tear.
As for Brandon Doughty - of course, Matt Moore is the man right now. But, unlike Tannehill, Moore is not the durable iron man who kept getting up from the abuse that Dolphins eternally weak OL had subjected him to for 5 years. Matt Moore may get knocked out by either Jets or Bills, both of who have strong DLs. Our OL better shape up.

Even though Western is our Arch Enemy; I got to root for BD. He is an extremely good QB and deserves a shot on the Sunday Stage of the NFL. Have to believe he will play well if given the opportunity and if Miami's O line gives him some protection.

RE: Brandon Doughty is Dolphins back-up
Update: Looks like Tannehill's injury is more a severe strain than actual tear; good news for the long term, won't matter if they don't make the play-offs.
Also, Cardinals DT Calais Campbell has apologized for the hit. Class act to man up (still pointless to go for the knees late in the play; one can only speculate on motivation).

Probably smart for a playoff team to have a veteran backup
"The Miami Dolphins signed veteran quarterback T.J. Yates to serve as the backup to Matt Moore, bypassing rookie Brandon Doughty for the second-team role."

Doughty, certainly, did not distinguish himself in the pre-season. Not that it was expected, anyways.

Last game vs. the Titans he did much better, but hard to tell too much from Preseason...He will have to show he has improved though greatly next preseason to land a job somewhere...
