Two Louisville Football Players Shot...
Including the leader in QB Sacks James Hearns...three ppl total...

Sources close to the team tell WDRB News that junior linebacker James Hearns and sophomore linebacker Henry Famurewa were both shot at a party at an apartment near the university.

Neither of the victim's injuries appear to be life-threatening.

There was a third victim also shot, but that person's name is still unknown.

Hearns, a native of Tallahassee, Fla, led the Cardinals this year with eight sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Famurewa, a Powder Springs, Ga., native, appeared in nine games and finished the regular season with 10 tackles and two sacks.

Update:

https://www.google.com/amp/www.whas11.co...ent=safari

Police were called to the Retreat at Louisville Cottage Apartments in the 1000 block of Manor Park Drive around 2 a.m. Sunday.
Detectives say a woman and a man were taken to University Hospital by ambulance due to gunshot wounds. Not too long after those victims were transported, police say a third person showed up to Jewish Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.
Sources say the third person is also connected to the shooting scene at The Retreat apartment complexes.

There is no update on the conditions of the three victims at this time.
UofL sophomore Jayvon Smith tells WHAS11 he lives just two doors down from the scene. Smith says students were gathering and celebrating Heisman Trophy recipient and sophomore UofL quarterback Lamar Jackson’s victory that evening into the early morning hours.
Smith says people then started knocking on his door, saying people were shooting. Smith tells us, "It’s always someone who comes from out in the city that usually have weapons or that mean to do any type of harm or violence, but I just think the city of Louisville is really dangerous right now, crime is just happening and it's sad that it has to be involved on campus too."
The university sent out two alerts to students. The first came at 4:07 a.m. regarding the shooting, saying LMPD was on the scene. A second notification was sent at 7:48 a.m. giving the “all clear.”

Terrible story. Here's hoping they return to health and the shooter is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Yusuf Shakir, who coached Hearns at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla., said Hearns, who plays linebacker, told him he had been shot in the elbow but that “he’s OK” and "knows it could have been a lot worse.”
“If you go through something like that, you’re happy to be alive," Shakir said.
A 19-year-old student who attends Jefferson Community Technical College said he witnessed the shooting, which took place at The Retreat, an off-campus apartment complex close to U of L's Belknap campus. He said he was at a party with U of L athletes who were celebrating Jackson's Heisman Trophy.
The JCTC student said he told police an argument ensued at the door before it eventually continued into the street.
“A few minutes later I heard chaos,” said the JCTC student, who asked his name not be shared. “It was five or six guys just going at it, fighting on one side and then I see a flash come from the other side. Then I just took cover.”
Police said the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Manor Park Drive, but alerts from the University of Louisville warning students to "avoid the area" did not go out until more than two hours later, according to multiple sources who shared the university's correspondence.

When officers arrived, they located a male and female that had been shot. Both were taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A third victim arrived a short time later at Jewish Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.
Police determined that all three injuries occurred at the same location. The two male victims are 23 and 20 years old, and the female victim is 20, according to police.

Shakir said Hearns told him "some local guys decided to crash the party," and that one of them "started shooting into the crowd."

RE: Two Louisville Football Players Shot...
This year has totally gotten out of control with record shootings in Louisville. It has also become a national epicademic. We all just need to come together and get to the cause of it and work something out to end the need to shoot others over little things that in the past were ended with just words exchanged and walking away unharmed. Lives are worth far more than losing one as a result of a heated moment.

RE: Two Louisville Football Players Shot...
My Mom works in a neighborhood grocery down off of 28th street in the Portland area of Louisville. She has worked there since 1978. She said that she has seen kids in her store as young as 10 with a gun in the waist of their pants.

Those in Louisville may remember the story about the guy that shot and killed his landlord that came over to pick up the rent money. The shooter was one of Moms customers. She said he was a really small guy that carried a big gun. She said he would raise his shirt up and show people his gun if they said anything to him.

In my opinion the problem is we have raised a generation of p ussies. They have never been taught how to deal with disappointment, (a result of the everyone gets a trophy mentality). If something doesn't go the way the like they use a weapon instead of trying to deal with the issue in a civilized manner. That along with the breakdown of the family unit. Too many baby mommas with baby daddies that were not taught how to be a man much less a father. Keep in mind this isn't a black or white issue it's a cultural one. Until we stop this cycle things will get worse.

Being a part of the CPS system in Kentucky as a foster parent it is definitely not a black or white issue. Violence &/or drugs are just a part of life for some people. It tends to engulf generations & it is what some people teach their kids because it is what they learned from their own parents. There isn't an easy solution.

I agree with your post. And furthermore the Nanny State school system that never allowed kids to settle their differences and which expelled the victim defending himself along with the bully has prevented several generations now from finding out that if you settle somethings with a fist you both can walk away alive and get over it. These kids are afraid of everything so they go over the top in responding to every situation. I can't stand to be around any of them and avoid them if at all possible. You can never predict how a coward will react to stress. It's so very sad.
