If you're looking for something a bit off the beaten path, try Katie's in Mid-City. The Crawfish Beignet is incredible.

I live in New Orleans. What are you looking for? Want to spend some $$$$? or $$?

I'll second skipping Mothers for Parkway.

Do you want steak? Seafood? Oysters? Happy hour specials?

Katies in Midcity is a great brunch place - go early and only with a party of two because it is a no reservation place and can be hell to get in with any bigger, or two parties of two 03-wink. Surreys Cafe in the Lower Garden District - crab omelet is amazing, again, go early for brunch 7-9am. The wait times for both can get nuts.

Luke, Dominica (especially if you GF or wife is with you, Roosevelt Christmas Decorations), AVO, Peche, La Boca....yall are in for a treat!

Seafood - grilled, Peche : fried, Luke

Steak - La Boca

Download the UBER app and zip around town that way, forget using cabs. Get out of the French Quarter, it is a tourist nightmare and there are much better food options in the city.

You options are limitless. I am excited for you!

Dog, you are correct. I get there a couple of times a month to visit family. Haven't gone to the Quarter in years and have had nothing but great meals and good times. Great neighborhood bars and restaurants in Mid City, Carrollton, Audubon/University, Garden District, all along Magazine etc... And safe too. Hell, I don't even go to the CBD unless going to a Pelicans or Saints game.

I am dead serious about staying out the quarter. It is not safe. Definitely not at night. There is too much BS and muggings going on in there to even bother with it. You won't miss it anyway. Tons of better food in other areas of the city. Mitch has been quiet on the crime issue in the Quarter for some time now.

There was one from the night of the Bayou Classic. Two guys, didn't hit each other. They killed one young woman and hit a couple of others.

Midcity isn't nearly as bad, Uptown and Lower Garden near Magazine and St. Charles are good for the most part and it is where I live. But use Uber - they are locals and know how to get around, there is no reason/excuse to drink and drive with Uber.

100% agree. Use Uber. No excuse to drink and drive. Enjoy the fun and let someone else handle the driving.

Per capita, we beat them, or it is still close. But Chicago has a huge population.
