I hate every team in the CAA that was founded after 1693.
JMU going to Frisco hurts our recruitment and gives theirs a big shot in the arm.
Nope, will never cheer for them. It's hatred, not jealousy.

Well said. Can't agree more.

RE: FCS Playoffs
A JMU second national championship at the FCS level is a clear indication that JMU has a better football program than W&M.
While that may be the natural order of things, I don't have to like it, nor cheer for it ... and I don't.
It's galling.

I hate JMU. But I still begrudgingly want then to win games like this. We played JMU tough this year. If they can win games like this, it's another reminder that we are not that far off, and that if you can win in the CAA, you can compete with anyone in the nation. Last night's result gives me more hope that we can eventually get our National Championship, and for me that is the only goal.

The saying goes " you are judged by the company you keep". We are in the company of JMU, TU, UD and etc.as they are with us. Just saying...

Cannot argue that we played them tough this year, but as I have said over and over, they can get (and always get) lots and lots of athletes in the program. Coaching has always held them back, from Mickey Mouse to Withers. Houston made El Cid a winner, and he is sporting wood with the materials he has at JMU. Bad news for us is that they have a lot coming back. Ditto UR and UD with a lot returning and coaches well placed in new spots.

Yeah, but aside from the fictitious tools played by Owen Wilson & Vince Vaughan, who really pays any attention to bridesmaids?

I don't think the Buckeyes and Wolverines EVER root for the other school to win the national championship.
Heck, at least we call JMU by their name instead of "that school at west".
Company, smompany!
:-)
PS When we rooted for our CAA brethren ... in hoops ... VCU and Mason ... they eventually left the CAA.

FCS Playoffs
The MVFC was down this year, and the Bison got a 1 seed based off of what they've done in years past. Their OOC wins this year we're all squeakers. The CAA I think was a much stronger conference and if Richmond had a QB I think they would be playing today. Success by other CAA teams carries in to next year. With the expanded playoffs there seems to be a pretty good chance that a 6 win team (in an 11 game season) slips in; I don't know for sure but I think the few times that's happened it's been an MVFC team. That's stemmed from NDSUs string of success. JMU manhandling them for quarters 1, 2, and 4 will dispel this notion next year.

I rooted for GMU and VCU 100% but only because every step they took meant a better payday for us. Hell, I have a Masters degree from VCU and still hated them while they were in our conference.

NDSU got the 1 seed based on what they did this year. OOC, they beat Iowa (finished season ranked FBS 21/25 depending on Poll), Eastern Washington (who won the Big Sky and is a semifinalist), and Charleston Southern (who won the Big South)
They also beat Youngstown State (who is a semifinalist) and Illinois State (also playoff team) and only lost to #8 seed South Dakota State by 2.
5-1 Regular season against FBS/Playoff teams earns you a 1 seed.
Of the other top 4 seeds,
EWU lost to NDSU and only beat Washington State and Cal Poly as FBS/Playoff teams
Jax State lost to LSU and beat no playoff teams but did transitioning Coastal Carolina
JMU lost to UNC and beat UNH, Richmond and Nova. JMU probably should have gotten the 2 seed and not 4 seed but they won on the road.

RE: FCS Playoffs
As incredible as that catch was, I really wanted EWU to make the title game. Gubrud and Kupp are both Payton Award finalists. And Kupp is the reigning award holder. They beat Wazzu and their only loss all year was to North Dakota State in the dome. I hope I'm wrong about YSU but they never struck me as that good. I know they have tons of history with Tressel (who I think is back with the team in some capacity) but I'm very surprised they made a title run. Bo Pelini aside, I hope they pull the upset in Frisco
