Major Applewhite is the new coach at Houston
I am neither thrilled nor disappointed. Just need to see how this all plays out.

The local guys are reporting it this time.

I am disappointed, hopefully they know what they are doing. I think this only makes sense if they were able to keep Todd Orlando.

As it turns out, Houston's place in the pecking order differs little from other AAC schools.  A good P-5 head coach will not demote to a G-5 job.  A high profile assistant coach will not take the Houston job with strings attached.   Reality bites for those choosing to ignore it.

Good for Major. Think we'll be better off with him than Kiffin. Now just fingers crossed that we can still keep Orlando.

Same. I think I would've prioritized Orlando over Applewhite.

And looks like USF is closing in on Charlie Strong. Sounds like Kiffin will be Saban's or Bebe's b*tch next year.

Underwhelming response by some, but I think he'll turn out to be the best hire.

Orlando's probably better as far as the X's and O's but I could see where the administration would feel like Applewhite would be better running the program.

It is funny to me watching Saban dress down Kiffin on the sideline and Kiffin sheepishly having to take it.

I think Houston likes offensive minded head coaches.

Thank goodness it wasn't a failed hired gun like Kiffin. The last time UH hired from within though, it set UH football back a full decade.

While I think Orlando is a better DC than Applewhite is an OC, I feel Major is a better choice for HC because of his connections to the Texas HS coaching fraternity.
