Yeah I don't think that is a big deal. It's not like he won't be making calls and getting things ready behind the scenes. Plus it's a dead period in recruiting anyways so you can't make any visits. I don't see the huge holdup with that. It happens a lot actually.

I think the addition of an actual playoff changed things up with expectations. Coaches didn't stay another month to win a bowl game but in a playoff situation it is becoming common.

I'd prefer to have him here immediately but waiting a month isn't a reason to move on to an obvious second choice. Depends on how they have ranked their candidates.

Totally agree with all of that. I'd love to have him here now as well. But it shouldn't mean moving on to someone else. I guarantee you a lot of work will be going on behind the scenes even if he sticks for the playoff.

No way UC would allow Fickell to wait until after bowl season...he's not even the main DC and even if he was, tough. If that truly is the hang up time to cut bait and move on. Its not like we are talking Nick Saban here...

Only one year at Toledo though right? I agree he's a good coach but he's also a much better fit where he is now. I'd worry about a NC State or someone calling as early as next year if he takes the UC job and has any semblance of success...I'm actually surprised he's considering the UC job. I thought he'd stay a few more years before an ACC school comes calling.

I mean, maybe. BUt he has to be one of the best coaching prospects in all of G5 right now. I think he's gonna do great anywhere. He's a phenomenal recruiter, we consistently land guys over the NC State's and Duke's right now. His offenses are also a blast to watch, especially with a quarterback that can sling it. I'm just saying, I think he'd do much better than Fickell. But please, go ahead and get that contract finished with him we're begging you. I'm ready to stop worrying about this.

Tell him the job is here and now and if OSU doesn't like it he has to make a career decision. Of course my rant is based purely on conjecture at this point. Let's hope this day holds some answers.

We may be down to our 12th choice in Satterfield or brown cause no one else is interested.

It could be Fickell the CO D coordinator who would bring a first time D coordinator in Coombs, but this may have fallen though due to bowl game preparation, money, or a raging case of hemorrhoids on someone on either side of said negotiation.
