If we learned anything from the last time our coach was the town drunk, we should include an alcohol budget in the contract to make sure our new coach stays liquored up! Maybe this time we can hire a full time DD to prevent those annoying DUIs.

Couldn't we get one of the wives of the BOT to drive them around?

It's pretty clear someone at UC is controlling 100% of what they are putting out which is frustrating as a subscriber over there. Just heard on 700 WLW that we're looking at the Coach from Appalachian St because we can't wait the month it's going to take to get Fickell due to the playoff?

Herman and Ash both stayed through the championship run if I recall. I can't imagine that would be the hangup.

I'm in the same boat. Nothing more than a hunch, but I think someone besides Fickell has to be in play.

If Fleck comes here after poaching one of our commits yesterday it would be awesome.

The upside with Fickell is that he won't want to leave until Urban's job opens up. His resume says he was at OSU through 3 coaches, with a stint in the middle in Akron. Born & raised in Columbus so I assume his family is in Ohio. So he's not going to leave if he's offered a big contract from Iowa or Texas or Virginia Tech or something.

Of course, this assumes that he does well enough that we'll want him to stay.

I too heard the report on WLW about Fickell falling by the wayside because of the one month delay in starting. So what's up with that? We've never had a coach wait for the bowl season to end. Tell him the job is here and now and if OSU doesn't like it he has to make a career decision. Of course my rant is based purely on conjecture at this point. Let's hope this day holds some answers.

Yeah I don't think that is a big deal. It's not like he won't be making calls and getting things ready behind the scenes. Plus it's a dead period in recruiting anyways so you can't make any visits. I don't see the huge holdup with that. It happens a lot actually.

Sounds like back-tracking. It's Fickell.

Well this has turned into the zoo I was hoping it wouldnt...

I wonder if UC is trying to go the Houston route and include a huge buyout if the coach gets poached and Fickell is balking on the amount?
