WMU student shot & killed
Sad day in Kalamazoo.
The Kalamazoo Department of Pubic Safety reports they were called to the 700 block of Howard Street around 10:30 Thursday evening to a report of gunshots.

When they arrived the victim was determined to be deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Unbelievable. Sounds like it happened in those apartments which have changed their name so many times right by The Den.

Used to be campus habitat, dunno what it's even called now. Always been the dirtiest, nastiest apartments anywhere.

These opened my 2nd year at WMU in 01-02. They were beautiful apartments when they opened (also much more expensive, I think rent was $400 per room). They were also built on the cheap (just like most new apartment/condo buildings today), so of course they quickly disintegrated as the apartments became party central.

But man, loved the hot tub and pool there.

Sad news. Comments are from ignorant A-holes. They blame low admission standards at WMU for the violence in and around campus. Perpetrators are almost always not students.

Trump supporters. Oh and they're usually not alums or connected to the school in any way, either.

That is a r-e-a-l-l-y ignorant, inappropriate and insensitive statement.

A young person was murdered and YOU are injecting crass partisan politics into it?! 01-wingedeagle

Please apologize.

Not to be a jerk...but do you really expect an apology? I think you want an admission of wrongdoing...were you really offended?

Come on guys.

This is beyond tragic. What happens next? There was a lot of outrage when 2 out of 100 kids on the football team went felon. Basketball teams are so much smaller. Coach Hawkins must be stunned and in shock.

What are the chances Hawk survives this?

Not a great week for him.

I will say the same for him as I did the football staff though-- Doesn't appear to be a recurring theme and so it's hard to hold an isolated incident against him.

I give Hawk the benefit of the doubt. But this is bad, real bad. Friend who lives in Kzoo believes this is it.

You know, it may be naive, but I thought we were above this stuff, this nonsense.
