Not sure what his buyout was. I had heard when LFed left for UNC after the 2011 season his buyout was in the $400k range give or take (and that was after year 4). For our current coach Jay Hopson the buyout the first 3 years of his 4 year deal is $2 million. The 4th year is $500k. Looking back at some of Hopson's contract his base is $500k. He got a $15k bonus for beating a P5 (Kentucky). Should USM win it's bowl game he would get a $25k bonus (10k just for making the bowl and $15k for a winning season). Depending on the team GPA and APR he could get up to $60k in bonuses.

Sorry but this one was probably just too subtle.

Yesterday a certain poster was losing his mind because a Western poster had called the money paid to the school losing a coach a buyout. This poster probably said that's not called a buyout at a minimum, 5 times getting more and more agitated that Western folks kept calling it a buyout. He insisted that the term 'buyout' could only be used when you get rid of a coach and have to pay him to leave.

My use of buyout was simply a gentle nudge. He didn't take the bait doe.
