Personally, I thought it was all the fans yelling "REF U SUCK. REF U SUCK...." Nothing more up-lifting than to know the crowd's got your back.

If he sticks around, Fizdale is gonna go down as the most beloved basketball coach this city has known. Up there with Bartow and Finch.

The guy is such a perfect fit for Memphis.

Seriously, is there anything that can bring 20k strangers together quicker than a ref you suck chant?

RE: Holy Cow
Fools gold.

The +/- differential for the Grizz puts them at 7th in the West.

Generally, over the course of a season a team's +/- will closely reflect their standings.

Enjoy the run of this depleted team. When folks do get healthy, the +/- will start trending the other way.

LOL, in the last 6 games opponents have scored 2 more points than the Grizzlies yet they are 5-1 in those games.

My point exactly.

They could easily be 0-6 in this stretch, though the +/- would say 3-3.

Generally, over the course of a season, these things tend to even out.

Plus, only 10 of their 24 games have been vs. teams with a .500 or better record (4-6) though, to their credit, they have killed it vs. bad teams (12-2).

that is a lot better explanation for your pessimism than the first argument, of course both ignore the obvious: IF THEY GET PLAYERS BACK AND HEALTHY

This is assuming the trajectory of progress continues, if somehow it plateaus with disappointing playoff results, he won't. There's no reason yet to believe the trajectory won't continue though. He's very impressive in motivating everyone to adjust their styles. One step at a time, but he's on his way.

I think the only thing is a regionally-specific chant.

Such as "Whoop that trick."

Something tells me that you were curled up in a fetal position and crying when they played the GS Warriors.

Nope.

+/- is an excellent barometer of a team's likely outcome.

Just look at last year's standing and then look at the +/-. They align pretty well.
