USA Today Coaching Salary Database
This is always kind of fun to look at. You can use the dropdown on the right side to see assistant and strength coach salaries too.

Conclusion: NIU is frugal.

Add in assistants: cheap.

Just saw on Twitter :

Iowa's strength and conditioning coach earns a $625,000 base salary.

Based on last couple seasons I'd say they're cheating NIU and getting the good end of the stick.

Carey gets paid better than nine other MAC coaches. His 2016 team did better than 7 other MAC teams. Going by salary, the Huskies slightly under-performed in 2016. But in Carey's previous three years, the Huskies went to Detroit.
