Taggart isn't going to Oregon, he's being Rooney Ruled

Charlie Strong and Les Miles will likely end up here in the American.

I still think Strong is a good coach.

Not a fan of Miles

Strong has a $10 million payout that is reduced if he takes another job. I do not see him in the mix for next season anywhere.

Yeah, Strong probably wont work for free.

I'd love to see Fleck come into the league. I was hoping for it last year when ECU came open. Then Scottie Mo happened.

While I hope you are correct (so he can stay at USF for another year), don't be so sure. I have a strong feeling Taggart will be gone soon.

I expect he's gone soon, but I'd be surprised if Oregon doesn't hire someone with a little more name value.

At least we've retained Chad Morris who turned Baylor down.

So that's in the plus category.

Tuberville is addition through subtraction.

I would not be surprised if Oregon now goes full force for South Florida's Willie Taggart, though others are still involved

@FootballScoop is Fleck the odd man out when the music stops on HC changes?

@syberjo Feels like Cincinnati might come together. Should learn more about direction of that one in coming hours...

Cincinnati has had a lot of success when plucking coaches from the MAC. Fleck will most likely do well wherever he goes.

Not good for the AAC. The best thing the AAC had going was a good crop of young coaches. I never thought Rhule would leave for a job not in the Big 10.

KN hired a new agency to represent him recently. I would not be surprised if he leaves shortly as well.

I keep hearing a lot of people say Fleck is to gimmicky for a big time job. You need more than mottos at a high profile job.

Good G5 coaches will always be coveted by the "P5" and they will get them because they have the money to lure them in with.

You can't blame the coach when they leave for 2X, 3X, 4X the money. You don't have to like them, but you can't blame them.

As long as we replace with coaches like Norvel, Frost, and Fritz, the AAC will be fine.

Those three coaches should start climbing the charts next year in the conference.

I'd feel very comfortable with a continuity hire (Orlando/Applewhite) at Houston. If Fleck lands at Cincinnati, we're ahead of the game. Temple is the place that I'm looking most.

He went 13-0 with mottos?

Wow thats a lot of money

But 2 years out of coaching? That's kind of like a death sentence right?

2 years retired... not in the routine... not keeping your recruiting contacts...

I'd be begging NFL teams for assistant coaching positions or ESPN for Urban Meyer's old seat as a talking head.

Rhule was making $2.5M a year for life, and I'm sure we would've upped it at some point. I imagine Baylor is around $4M. It's not like he left for significantly more more, and it's not like Baylor is going to give him that job for life.

There's so much misinformation on this board regarding Charlie Strong's contract.

https://hkm.com/football/wp-content/uplo...ntract.pdf

Quote:Coach acknowledges that he will minimize the payments due to him under Section 7 .B and agrees to make every reasonable effort to obtain other employment as long as the University has the obligation to make payments under Section 7.B.

Charlie Strong has put in reasonable effort to look for work as long as he's receiving payments from Texas.

Quote:If Coach obtains new employment during the Payout Period, the University's financial obligations under Section 7.B shall be reduced by taking an offset in the amount of 50% of the total compensation received by Coach in his new position.

Texas is not fully guaranteeing a $5 million salary either.

Are there any obvious replacements for Rhule at Temple? How about hiring Al Golden again?
