RE: Mike Price rips fans' 'Fire Floyd' sign at UTEP game
Is it because of the scandals that some want Floyd out at UTEP? The Miners are definitely struggling this year, but his 122-76 (.616) record at UTEP prior to this season is pretty solid; certainly better than UTEP's overall .575 record historically.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread was, "why in hell would anyone care what over-the-hill Mike Price thinks"???

NEVER hesitate to put your school first, far ahead of any coaches. Because you and the other supporters for your school will be around cleaning things up long after the hired guns have left town.

Basically wins over bad teams isn't cutting it anymore. Floyd has been the coach seven years and we have zero conference championships, zero NCAA appearances, and zero post season wins. The team has an unusual high amount of turnover. Starters frequently transfer out or declare for a draft they have no chance at. The team seems to be regressing at this moment. Attendance is dwindling to all time lows. The AD seems to be ok with all of this occurring.

But that is exactly what was happening here at UTEP. Even here on this forum people ran cover for Floyd for years. Needless to say, those guys haven't been heard from in this forum for some time now.

Even the local media ran cover for Floyd and Price for years saying we couldn't afford better coaches or that young coaches just up and leave and Floyd and Price are loyal blah, blah, blah.

That is until Floyd held a press conference specifically to attack the media. Now everyone is against him. Except for one person who always calls in and says Floyd is doing it the right way.

Not sure what he means by that but it sure is amusing.

Basically everyone has had enough of his underperforming teams and turnover in personnel and his ego. But I can guarantee you that most fans will forgive all of that if he turns the program into a winner with ncaa bid in hand. We fans are always fickle and it's about the wins.

I feel as if Floyd went to UTEP thinking if he could pull off an NCAA bid in 1-3 years he would be considered in good standing with most programs out there and would have a chance to move somewhere else. He was the HC at USC that brought OJ Mayo in. Everyone in Huntington knew the kid was ineligible to play. Its one reason some Marshall fans thought he might end up there for one year. When that never happened for Floyd things then just turned upside down for him. And now you have a coach that knows how to recruit but just doesn't care anymore or goes through the same motions. It would probably be good for both UTEP and Floyd if he was to move on.

I remember our first year in CUSA, wondering what we had gotten ourselves into, after seeing UTEP's huge lineup.

They had probably five guys taller than our tallest.

Hard to believe how far they've fallen in just a couple of years.

I for one expect another loss this Saturday night against Northern Arizona. This team is only slightly better than our team in 2002-2003 when we were 6-24. Right now the team is 2-6 and I honestly don't see how we win more than 5 more games this season. I know our AD loves Floyd, but I don't think he will be ok with 6-7 wins this year. My father got us our tickets when the Haskins Center opened (1977) and I don't know if I can justify getting season tickets again next year if this continues.

I am thinking of wearing a brown bag on my head to the game on Wednesday night. If UTEP does lose to Maryland Eastern Shore this town will go nuts and Floyd will be gone at the end of the season. At least that is my hope.

If he loses to UMES, currently 1-11 and consistently one of the worst programs in D1, he should be gone 5 minutes after the buzzer sounds. Or less.

But if it hasn't happened yet.....

Wow, you guys did actually lose to Northern Arizona. I'm sorry but there is no reason to keep Floyd after this terrible start, UTEP athletic administrators. He's never been that great for y'all and now things are just going downhill quick...

If Mike Price were any more full of crap he'd require emergency service from a pump truck.
