RE: See Ya Later Blake ... Whoops; LOL Arkansas State
Anderson Interview today:
"Baylor contacted me a week ago, asking if I would be interested in the position if they chose to move forward with me. I indicated that I would be interested, but I would have questions for them. They did not contact me again, and I did not meet with them yesterday. I was in Kansas recruiting."
"Part of coaching is understanding that you are going to be contacted about other jobs, and I made the commitment that I would consider any school that approached me to see if it is the right place for me. If you are not getting contacted about other jobs, it means you are not doing a good job"
"I understand that there are a lot of people in Jonesboro who were probably elated by Yesterdays news. That's part of the business"
"I promised this University that I would leave this school in a better place than when I found it, and I intend to keep that promise."
(Question about the statement about winning the bowl not being important)
"Sometimes the loudest voices are the most negative voices. I try not to listen to those voices, but it is hard. I do want to celebrate this group of guys. They have been through chaos their 4 years here. With different coaches. After a 0-4 start, they deserve this game.
"There are people out there who don't appreciate us. There are people still upset about the UCA loss. There is nothing about losing to UCA that I liked, but unless you walk in the players shoes, You DO NOT KNOW how much they should be celebrated for what they accomplished for this team and this school." "They deserve a chance to go to Disney World and celebrate their accomplishments"
"That being said, we are intending to win this football game and go 8-5"

Finally but Coach don't make stupid statements and you won't have to explain them.

Coaches are weird birds. They sign up for a career where they get second-guessed every day but none of them can seem to tolerate second-guessing. It's like choosing to be a brain surgeon when you cannot bear the thought of blood.
Truth is, if Baylor had offered him several million....he would have left these kids....byebye kids! And we mean old fans would have stayed right here and supported those kids through their coaching change like we have done time...after time....after time....for thin-skinned coaches who hit the highway for money. WE mean old thoughtless fans would have backed those kids through their bowl game....their coachless bowl game....again.
And Blake would have encountered more disappointed fans and second-guessers on his FIRST DAY at Baylor than he has on his worst day at A-State.
But that's not anything unique to him. All these coaches have some amount of it running through their veins. It seems to be part of the makeup required for the job.

He could have probably had the jobs at Maryland, Rutgers, or Syracuse last year and instead he only interviewed at Missouri so he could leverage it for a raise. And then he settles for the job at a dumpster fire like Baylor? I can only assume they threw huge money at him.
Maryland, Rutgers, and Cuse aren't exactly great jobs.

I'm not saying they are, but they are regional P5 schools, which is what Baylor has historically been until they compromised their integrity in the name of winning. Maryland and Rutgers especially have the potential to be big fish, small pond type of schools in regards to their local talent as well, where Baylor will always have t.u., A&M, TCU, even Tech and Houston in state.
