Example of NCAA impropriety
I just googled the UNC academic fraud case to get the latest updates. I found there's a Wiki page on it. Opened the Wiki page and read the section on possible NCAA punishment. The description says this (bold added by me):

"The National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA, a non-profit that regulates college-level athletics, is an important institution in the scandal. In the past, the NCAA has sanctioned institutions such as Florida State University and the University of Memphis for improprieties, which included ghostwritten term papers and tests and other academic fraud."

What the heck?! I tried removing the UofM from that, but Wiki won't let me. So it's us and Florida State as the examples of NCAA renegades. Unbelievable.

This is one thing i can never understand. Why is it we have sat still and allow people to believe the internet claims instead of the truth.

Truth is as of today the NCAA's official position is that Rose did take his own test.

The reason for the penalties is that the testing center retroactively invalidated the test.

Yet most basketball fans and many of the media actually believe we were put on probation because someone else took Roses test. Who knows someone else may have done it, But that charge was NEVER proven.

If that is the case, we should be reimbursed the forfeited NCAA credit money and the banner should be raised.
I just don't think that the NCAA has this as an official position.

I say put the banner up. What's the harm? We're already the outlaw program, evidently. They got their money. We vacated the wins. Put it up and don't tell them - dare them to come to us. Do we think we're getting any preferential treatment because we took it down?

Instead of Memphis being listed for those infractions it should be Arkansas. That is what their basketball program got in trouble for. They cheated their azz off under Nolan Richardson when it came to class work. They had papers and tests taken by other people, including academics advisors instead of the players.

The NCAA stated in their report that there was INSUFFICIENT evidence to prove the claim that Rose did not take his test. But once the ETS invalidated the test there was no reason to continue investigating.

Well, that's different than having a position that he DID take his own test. Regardless, whole thing was BS, anyway.

If they could not find proof that he did not take the test then their position has to be that he did take it.

It doesn't matter, those banners aren't ever going to see the rafters of the FEF ever again. Personally, I feel bad for Antonio and Dozier. After having a 4 year college career with the most D1 wins in the history of CBB is quite an accomplishment, all to be taken away because a teammate "allegedly" had someone take a test for them.

RE: Example of NCAA impropriety
Once the ETS invalidated Rose's qualifying ACT score, the NCAA case was easy, so they ruled him ineligible (after the fact). This is a case between Rose & the ETS. There is nothing for the University can do to reverse it other than to argue that the NCAA's retroactively ruling him ineligible is "unconstitutional" (ex post facto).

Now... if Rose decides that the ETS ruling him ineligible means that they are calling him a cheat, and thus are slandering his name, then he can challenge their ruling and force them to provide clear evidence of wrongdoing. If they can't prove that he cheated, then they would have to reinstate the score. If that happens, then the banners go back up and the NCAA sends the UofM a check.

Derrick Rose is making millions playing basketball. He did his 1 year in college, and probably has no interest in opening that can of worms back up. Unless he decides to run for office at some point, I can't imagine that he'd ever go to the trouble to reinstate his ACT score.

Arkansas, Old Miss, Syracuse, North Carolina, USC, etc.
