Sad Day
Knew it would come but always hope for the best. Oh well, movin on!! At least with his buyout, we basically got 3 years for the price of 2, AND we'll get a series with Purdue in the future!! 04-cheers

RE: Sad Day
Far better to lose a coach because someone wants to pay him absurdly amounts of millions than to lose a coach on the reciprocal side of that equation - one out of necessity.

A lot of CUSA programs would be delighted to experience your brand of sadness.

Worst part of it is that it's announced before your bowl game. That's got to be a huge distraction for the team

It always happens before the bowl game at schools like ours.

Happened that way with Willie Taggart. It was even worse with him because he was flirting with USF during the season and caused a couple of losses we shouldn't have had in my opinion.

New employers want their employees at work on their problems immediately...i.e. Recruiting new players to their school.

Yep. That's my one and only concern through all of this. Not necessarily the players being distracted, but who will be calling plays. Jeff was the play caller and Brian was the co-OC.

We don't get the home and home with Purdue.Last
Year when they re-did His contract they took that provision
Out. Why Todd agreed to that I don't know.

No way you can compete with a 6 year 20 million dollar deal

Oh well.......

Could be a lot worse.

Better to lose a coach after a good season than a bad one 04-cheers

Or you could have a "career" coach who is average at best

I wish we'd been Fedora'd again since then. For better than Johnson'd.

For those embracing the "100 Miles Of Hate" angle; this is definitely NOT A SAD DAY. He beat MT 2 out of 3 times as Western's Head Coach, and he beat us as WKU Offensive Coordinator. Seriously, nobody can blame Brohm for taking the deal Purdue presented to him. Brohm is a phenomenal coach who will succeed in B10 and restore Boiler Makers as a winning program. Hard to beat 20 Million over 6 years. On a brighter note, WKU has a gift for hiring FB Coaches who win more than they lose. So, we ain't gonna cry for the Toppers.

I think it will depend on what he does for DC. His defenses were never anything to write home about. He'll have the money to get a good assistant though, so he better use it wisely. If he doesn't, doubt he does much of anything at Purdue.

Brohm is gone for 20 million reasons over 6 years. Even with sell outs WKU is not paying Brohm 3.3 million a year.

I don't understand if Tony Levine is a candidate, why wasn't he made interim HC for the time being?

Good and bad in that. The good is that it allows WKU time to get their new coach in place in time to put at least part of his staff together to recruit.
