I hope Josh Pastner loses every game he ever plays or coaches. If he calls next at the Y, I hope he loses by 50. I honestly don't think our program will recover in my lifetime (and I'm in my 40's)

I agree. But, still, he thinks he did a great job here. Incredible.

He still thinks we are all in the minority. The majority of Tiger fans think his seven year tenure was excellent! - is he that delusional????

He has been at least since the time he applied to coach the Clippers before he graduated -- from high school.

Sure sounds like an ambitious lil narcissistic bugger. Maybe it was just a school project lol.

Otherwise I gotta think we paid a whole lot of money to a delusional inexperienced insomniac to coach our Memphis Tigers BB program.

I find it very interesting and telling that no one has mentioned the comments about AD panicking or if he had a boss to give him good direction or even force it on him.

I didn't listen to the podcast. Don't know if I can start listening to his voice yet. There's these sound activated cellular memories of JP that might send me off the deep end...lol

Does anyone have the nutshell of what was said along those lines...?

Probably because everyone knows your bias and disregards it while reading your posts.

How does my PERCIEVED bias affect others ignoring very pertinent facts in this post yet picking up only on those showing Pastner in a bad light-with which I concur-but ignoring those showing his boss in a bad light?

Obviously not going to be moved; thought I would contribute to thread. I think most found my post to be interesting.

Josh needs to look no further than the empty seats in the FEF to understand why he was "pushed out". Of course, he will never get it. After Georgia Tech gets fed up with his act, then the only gig he'll get is to team up with his idiot buddy Tim Welsh on CBS Network defending other losers in the coaching profession who are still on the hot seat.

Birds of a feather.....

Yes this is somewhat NTR, but the interview has potential for good entertainment.

Please. Mods can we move this post?

In my opinion, this is still relevant. He coached here a long time, he's one year removed, and I'm interested in seeing how he does at Tech. Give it a few years, and I'll stop caring. For now, I want to hear this. Plus, he's going to talk about things that relate to his time here at Memphis.

The one game I watched looked like us last year. He's still clueless.

Moving a post is hard. Being able to move post is not a birth right. when it comes to moving post it is about the jimmy and joe's not the X's and o's...............too much fun but I will stop now

If our program doesn't recover in 30/40/50 years, then we have bigger issues to worry about. It may take 10-15 years to recover from this, though

-Shaq Goodwin is a whack job, and Jason Smith is a D' for doing the Shaq exit interview
-Shut down talk about Frank Matriciano
-Majority of fanbase was happy with his performance
His answers sound like the people that post here

My own view of Josh:

1.) Extremely insecure.

2.) More self aware than most think but but as to why it never comes across in interviews see #1.

3.) Probably better at X/O's than most think (4 or 5 on a 1-10 scale). But worse at communicating/motivating/connecting with players than can even be stated (0 on 1-10 scale). At Tech the difference in his player demographic should knock this up at least to a 2 or 3.

4.) Still needs Memphians to like him/appreciate him/not dislike him at minimum. Why else do the interview at this point? See #1.

Most of Josh's flaws stem primarily from his insecurities. The rest come from his unique personality. Good luck with to him.

They aren't facts. They are the opinion of one individual.

College basketball as a whole isn't what it was. The interest is lacking, outside of your usual college towns. Durham, Lawrence, Lexington, etc...

Memphis had a double whammy in the sense that while Josh Pastner was doing the damage that he did to the Tiger basketball program, the city of Memphis became a full fledged NBA city. The timing could not have been worse for the program.

Anyone who's waiting for Tiger basketball program to return to what it once was in terms of fan interest in the city are going to be waiting for a very, very, very long time. In all likelihood, it ain't happening.

The right coach could have at least kept the Tigers relevant in Memphians' minds while the Grizzlies were on their run.

But.....the damage is done, and it's most likely irreparable.

Hit the nail on the head. A empty FedExForum completely contradicts CJP's argument that the majority of the fan base thought he did a good job. Years 1-4, I could get on board with that. But any wiggle room he had on years 1-4 was completely undone by years 5-7.
