Will be fun.
Will arrive December 19. Night game gives ample day beach time.

Sagarin has us #39 and Western KY #36. Much higher than either Wake Forest or South Carolina - for those people thinking a P5 matchup means anything. Both those schools are in the 80's.

The millions of people (i.e. eyeballs watching TV) that matter don't look up Sagarin ratings. All they see is Memphis beating South Carolina, or Memphis beating Western Kentucky. Always go with the big name unless it's basketball season.

Disagree. Memphis v. Western will have higher ratings - for starters. Second, fans watching don't care. They will forget in less than a week who Memphis played. It just doesn't move the needle for casual fans. Those who follow the sport will know the difference.
But the main thing is telling recruits: 1) you went to a bowl, and B) it was in south florida. Bigger than this is the practice time for your underclassmen.

So go make some money. Our history of being bad and WKU recent (incorrect) history of being really good is making the line upside-down
In all 3 of their super seasons with Taggart, Petrino and Brohm they beat Kentucky twice (whoooohooooo) and USF.
Memphis wins big.

Agree. Without looking can anyone on here actually name a result from the pre-Christmas Bowl games last year?

Oh, come on, people? It's not about remembering results. It's about who you are seen associating with. That has a subliminal effect. You see Memphis matched up with Auburn, and we compete - win or lose - people turn off the game after it's over with a little check-mark next to the box in their head that says "Memphis = legit program." You see Memphis matched up with La Tech or stAte, and you turn off the game at the end with a check-mark next to the box that says "G5, and nothing I've seen proves any different."

Utah was beating BYU 35.0 in the Las Vegas Bowl at the half!

I must have missed the results of that game... wow:
Quote:On the third play of the game and just 34 seconds after kickoff, the Utah defense forced a BYU quarterback Tanner Magnum to fumble and Utah's Gionni Paul recovered at the BYU 21-yard line to set up the Utes first touchdown of the game. On the first play of BYU's subsequent drive, Utah's Tevin Carter intercepted Magnum at the BYU 28-yard line and returned the ball for a pick-six touchdown that put the Utes ahead 14-0 only 4:18 into the game. Six plays later Tevin Carter again intercepted Magnum, returning the ball 33-yards to the BYU 1-yard line and setting up another Utah touchdown to extend the Utes lead to 21-0 less than six minutes into the game. Four plays into BYU's next drive, Utah's Dominique Hatfield intercepted Magnum at the BYU 46-yard line and returned the ball for another pick-six touchdown to give the Utes the 28-0 lead with 7:29 left in the quarter. Two plays later the Utah defense forced BYU to fumble the ball and the Utes recovered at the BYU 39-yard line before Utah's Travis Wilson ran for a 20-yard touchdown to give the Utes the 35-0 lead with 4:38 still remaining in the first quarter. BYU had run only 15 plays by that time, including five turnovers, while Utah had only run 12 plays.[41] As a result of BYU's disastrous start, commentator Brent Musburger joked: “I really feel sorry for my Mormon friends at BYU. They don’t drink! This game would drive you to it.” [42]

I've found that the early bowl games ( especially prime time games which we are) are heavily watched. I expect our teams to give the country a nice show
