RE: Candle Mentioned For Cincinnati Job
that's what i've been saying. yeah, if oregon or texas or someone like that offered him the job, he'd go. but he's in a good spot, making huge money for a G5 coach and while I think they'll lose a few games next year they should still be good and win enough for him to show he can maintain a program. purdue was not a good job, imo, cincy isn't above strong mac programs at this point, and a bunch of other AAC programs are stronger these days.

Scroll down to Western Michigan and Cincinnati.
Can't blame him. WMU has a strong team coming back next year.
What does WMU have coming back? Don they lose there QB, a couple OLmen, RBs and Davis? It not like there Defense was overly impressive?

RE: Candle Mentioned For Cincinnati Job
If he stays, they're on track to have one hell of a recruiting class again, though. Their schedule is much tougher next season, so while I think they will still have enough talent to win the MAC again, I highly doubt they will be the highest rated G5 team. It will be interesting to see then whether or not his name continues to be brought up for many P5 jobs next season.
I'm of the belief now that none of the better P5 programs that have openings are/were really all that interested in him, and he will be back in Kalamazoo next season, with a big fat raise. It's going to cost WMU a lot of money--a LOT of money-- to "keep" someone who really wasn't going anywhere else, which is an interesting negotiating tactic on their part, I guess. I don't think anyone else in the MAC will try to keep up with them in terms of salaries, either--they will be the outlier.

Their D led the MAC in most categories and their RBs are both back. They were at least the equal of Hunt/Swanson. QB is gone but they have a couple behind him who may be better.

Woah, thats back-to-back big-time hires by Houston. I do not see them remaining a G5 school very much longer. Lucky them that they have the resources to make hires like that. Recruits are going to continue to flock there.

They spent $125 million on their stadium(40,000 capacity) and subsidize their athletic program to the tune of $22-23 million a year. They better get somebody in to fill the stadium.

I think everybody who posts or lurks here knows I'm easily confused, but could we change the title of this thread? It seems to have morphed into a coaching carousel thread.

Even better, let's have Coach Candle say publicly he will be back for next season...then we can delete the thread altogether!

Im pretty sure Franklin came in with Hunt. So he should be done. Maybe the other guy, Bogans in back. There Defense stats are related to the fact that there offense was able to control the ball so often and keep there D off the feild. We moved the ball at will on them.

Franklin is a Junior and Bogan is a Sophmore.

What do you think he hasn't shown in one year as HC and several as a OC?

Well, if we moved the ball at will we would have beaten them. And given the frequency of their scoring their opposition had plenty of possessions and didn't score on many. We scored a lot because our offense is really good. And both of those backs return.

unless the other team also moved the ball at will. What's the tie breaker for that?
