They always jump ship when they're on top and you don't get more on top that Fleck is right now. Somebody will hire him.

Candle--I don't think he'll be going anywhere this year.

You guys do realize this reporter is just throwing out names? With out any factual information if any of these coaches are actually interested in the UC position.

We has that figured out by second post. That's no reason to let a good thread die. We push on!

So if Purdue is settling and hiring a guy from WKU, Fleck really may be headed to Oregon.

Settling?

"Brohm comes to Purdue with a 30-10 record in three seasons at Western Kentucky and won the past two C-USA titles. His offenses have consistently been explosive, averaging 44 or more points per game every season, and the former NFL quarterback has gotten consistently spectacular production from that position."

Seems like a nice hire to me.

Purdue needs a Defense, not an offense. Well both actually but priorities. Sounds like they're trying to live on past histories as a producer of QBs and not much else.

That kind of honor & loyalty just doesn't exist anymore, and with salaries going haywire at P5 schools it's no surprise. I thank Campbell for opening my eyes there. Not surprised that Candle's name would be mentioned. I hope he doesn't choose to leave after one season--maybe he and/or Fleck will truly be the exception. I think he could get us a MAC championship in 2 or 3 more seasons; doubt Cindy will be in position to win the AAC in that same period.

I dunno, I think Frank Solich is pretty happy building his legacy (along with $500,000.00) in Athens and isn't looking to go anywhere.

Agree with the Solich comment. That team is very solid and WMU was fortunate to beat them. We will get that person in Toledo who has been to the top of the mountain and be very happy here.

One other thing, the more I see of PJ the less I think a P5 program worth a darn will want that ego trip of a coach. I must say that if you watch the WMU games the gal with the Go-Pro filming his every move gets a work out. Watch it when they play Wisconsin. That is a JV approach that will get old at the next level, just watch.
One other comment, wonder what WMU does after PJ leaves with all of the "boat" crap? Their fb building is full of it, their uni's are full of it, wonder if your thing is "dream the impossible dream"? Where does a boat fit in for that guy? Just asking....

He is eccentric, but there are probably places where he'd fit right in. UCLA maybe.

People keep saying "stupid" like a1.5-2 million dollar a year raise is stupid. I want to be that stupid.

If money is the only thing, I would agree with you. But look what has happen to beckman at Illinois, how about the former coach at Kent State who went to Purdue, and how long will Campbell last at ISU before they get tire of his act. I didn't think coach Pinkel would last at Missouri, but I was wrong on that one. Money again isn't everything, stability is and not being under the gun all the time at power 5 schools.

The fans are full of it. They were a rowing away in the stands in the 4th quarter of the UT game. I think it would be in PJ's best interest to leave the boat in Kalamazoo. The Bronco fans love it! And, what team next in line team would embrace it? The bad thing about this one time deal is selling it to who your leaving, or wherever you are going. I'll bet it ends. 05-ban

i'm kind of glad for Solich. He sort of got railroaded out of Nebraska. People just didn't feel the option was sexy enough anymore. They've struggled to be mediocre ever since. He made Ohio his own.

I don't know. I think he enjoys being left alone and being able to run a program his way without any pressure.

That's really what it seems like. OU seems like such a low-key program but is always competitive because of Solich's coaching. OU seems to love him and I've never heard the Bobcat fans complain about him.

IIRC, Beckman came from a defensive background. I don't see why he couldn't be a DC here. We could do worse. He hired Campbell and Candle our subsequent HC's. I think that says something.

As long as he can be convinced that breathing doesn't equal game ready.

PJ wants a Power 5 job. He wouldn't talk to Cincinnati. He's probably coming back to Kalamazoo.

Scroll down to Western Michigan and Cincinnati.

Can't blame him. WMU has a strong team coming back next year.
