Congrats to Penn St and the Big Ten
If the CFP were an 8-team playoff and if it was the top 8 in the rankings selected for the playoff:

- 4 Big Ten teams in the field
- 1 each for the PAC, SEC, ACC, and Big 12

That is HUGE! Great season for the Big Ten, the top conference in college football.

Special congratulations for Penn St! Champions of the top college football conference.

The program and the state of Pennsylvania were due for such a victory, with everything that happened to them stemming from the criminal acts of Joe Sandusky.

It was a special victory for the people of Pennsylvania. Everyone from that state is tipping their caps towards University Park and the great accomplishment that PSU Football has achieved, rising from the ashes!

Except .... Virtually no objective indicators agree. Most have the B1G as the 3rd or 4th best conference.

A big shout out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for producing two conference champs, Penn State and Temple.

As a Penn State fan and alum ---- let's drop the "rise from the ashes" sort of narrative. A football game was won last night --- beyond the field that means no more, no less.

I guess Gus Johnson used that same sort of talk last night. I didn't watch the broadcast given I was actually at the game.

That said:

WE ARE ........... B1G CHAMPIONS! (fun fact: PSU has 3 of those since the last time Michigan won even one)

It doesn't apologize for the criminal acts of Joe Sandusky, and what he did to the people of Pennsylvania. Of course not.

But it was a win for everyone in the state. Every Pennsylvanian is tipping their cap towards University Park!!

RE: Congrats to Penn St and the Big Ten
The Big 10 had good overall records among its top tier of teams and those teams are rightly to be congratulated. But let the record show that the SEC and ACC finished 1-2 in overall record, record against OOC opponents and SOS. The Big 10 finished with the third best records with the fourth ranked SOS. So to quote Dennis Green, "if you want to crown them, crown them." But there seems to be a whole lot of fluff that the top teams got fat on. IMHO, put any of those teams in the SEC West and they would all have at least two losses and most would likely have more. That's not necessarily a reflection on how good they are as individual teams, but rather a comment on the relatively easier path to a significant win total.

1.) Sandusky was far from alone among Penn State officials in what he did to hurt children.

2.) Please don't presume to speak for all Pennsylvanians. Many of us are embarrassed by what happened up there; and even more embarrassed by their insanely arrogant and tone deaf reaction to it. They don't represent me in any way.

My system has the B1G in 3rd. more generous than Massey.

Is what it is. But hey, the B1G can make up a lot of ground with a good bowl campaign.

The B1G is far and away the best conference this year.

But the Penn State thing... not so much. As much as it would have hurt our conference, the institutional coverup over decades of pedophilia is a total disgrace and the football program should have received a true death penalty (10 years) as it is by far the worst thing that any institution has ever done in college sports. Cheating, paying athletes, bribery, academic fraud - none of that is anything as bad as covering up such a heinous act that created so many victims.

Yeah I figured there would be a few people that still wish the convenience of the situation would've been horrifically taken advantage of to shut down the program altogether.

But most Pennsylvanians are indeed proud of Penn St for returning to championship football.

I doubt it. Most Pennsylvania probably don't care. Most college football fans probably care, but I doubt that the median Pennsylvanian CFB fan is a PSU fan. PSU has the biggest fan base in the state, but I doubt it's a majority.

And certainly not myself nor anyone else not enveloped in that horrifying, disgusting cult, which includes a large number in the non-Pennsyltucky portions of the Eastern and Western parts of the state.

I will say a hardy congrats to Temple. A school that has pulled itself up from the ashes of college football without embarrassing itself, the Commonwealth, or sacrificing basic human decency.

You can make a strong case for the B1G as the third best conference so far this year. That's about it.

Now, if they sweep their bowl games, we can talk again. 07-coffee3

Can we stop with this SEC west BS please. That division is not what it used to be. Besides Bama everyone took a big step back this season.
