Out of curiosity, why do you call App State "Appy"? I've never heard that nickname but I see it every time someone talks about them now on the forum.

I am not really sure where it started but it's one of those things that gets started on a message boards and floats like plastic bag in a Walmart parking lot. I have seen it being used somewhere and found it fitting and started using it.

Appy State is what everyone, including themselves, called them forever. It's the "App State" thing that is actually newer and they started pushing it less than a decade ago. All our years in the Southern Conference with them they were Appy, so I will always call them that.

If you go back through the years, ASU's press releases and the school itself always used Appy to identify themselves. The few ASU fans I see down at the Brunswick NC beaches always have Appy shirts. When did they start using the term "App"?

I think the term "Appy" is a vestige of the "Hot, Hot, Hot" marketing campaign that was so successful a few years back.
ODU is 5-2 but we've been incredibly inconsistent. We took Louisville to OT and had a lead on them but couldn't finish due to free throws. Fast forward a week and a half and Towson takes us to the final seconds and we walk out of there with a 2-point win. I think an announcer for the Battle4Atlantis tournament said we play to our competition and they were right. As much as I'll take a 5-2 record, I would love to be more consistent in the way we play

The radio even did a Bobby McFerrin spoof "Don't worry, Beat Appy" back in the day when we played them. Name goes back a long way.
