RE: Houston to Las Vegas Bowl
I like to believe this is going to be a good game, with all that has happened this season however and I mean in how poor Tom Herman handled his springboard exit and running off on his players with lies after lies has got to drain them mentally and physically.

I don't know which Houston team will show, but than again having one additional game and play as a unit one other time may not be good news for the opponent, look for Ward, Ed Oliver showcasing impressive performances.

RE: Houston to Las Vegas Bowl
This game is gonna be a UH rout unless all that crap about distractions means anything. And the fact is, unless someone is dealing with family tragedy, which happens all the time across sports to little notoriety, then the entire "distraction" issue is overblown. Like war, if you don't come fully prepared to play in football you get your ass ran over or look like you're point shaving (like the Steelers QB in Super Bowl XXX).

It's arguable SDSU hasn't played a really good team all year (Wyoming's big wins were upsets or came at the exact right time) and they still had 3 losses.

Boise St 10-2

They may not have finished 10-3 if they had to play those teams. Not their fault, that's just the way the schedule worked out. In any case, The Las Vegas Bowl on ABC (not ESPN) featuring a team from Houston and San Diego will get huge TV ratings! Good matchup.
Cheers!

Their schedule was so easy, they should have finished 12-1 at worst if they had any kind of substance. They were blown out by South Alabama, even if it was more about them giving the game away than being overpowered.

Not sure what "any kind of substance" means.

South Alabama was inexcusable for sure. But then, didn't you guys lose to SMU? South Alabama beat Mississippi State. Who besides Houston did SMU beat?

We also played like crap in our final home game against Colorado State and were curb stomped. However, Wyoming suffered a similar beating that day against New Mexico. Rocky Long and Wyo's coach Bohl both said they thought Wyo's 34-33 win the week before when SDSU unsuccessfully went for a 2-point conversation on the final play took a lot out of their players.

I've seen quite a bit of your team this year but it sounds like you really haven't seen much of ours and I'm expecting a very good game.

all your best players played vs south alabama.....we were down 7 starters vs smu, most impact-ful were 3 oline, they sacked ward 8 times ..and without our best passing rushing lb (ps we are healthy for sdsu)

smu recruits top 6 in the g5, and actually has talent...smu is a 10 win team in the sunbelt..you are pointing to who did smu beat..look who smu lost to, potentially every single one could beat sdsu (* note they played baylor before they quit)..south Alabama has losses to 4 win sunbelt teams ..(smu over schedules every year)

but his point of substance is you didnt play any remotely decent teams outside of wyoming...

keep in mind the best defense you beat all year is ranked 68 in total defense and fresno defense is inflated from playing bad mwc teams, the average of the rest is 90

you played 2 teams in the top 60 in total defense in 60 Colorado state and 52 south Alabama they both blew you out

and honestly no one thinks either are as good as their ranking..for comparison sake, houston is ranked #14 and our numbers arent inflated as we shut down 3 top 10 offenses..

i dont think that is a coincidence about who blew out sdsu
ive actually watched sdsu games..and the style of offense you run only works if you dramatically outrecruit the people you play, especially in the trenches
you arent running some option offense (mis-direction), you are just handing the ball off and your o-line is winning and making push ..you lost to horribly to the 2 teams that had talent in the trenches to win those matchups

Had you watched our game at South Alabama you would know that in the first half our long snapper went out with an injury received on punt coverage. USA was ahead by just 4 early in the fourth quarter when the backup long snapper, who had never seen the field before and never saw it again after that game, hiked the ball over our punter's head and USA tackled the punter at our 3. They took it the 3 yards to widen their lead and it was the biggest play of the game. So to suggest we had no meaningful starters out is just plain wrong.

As to SMU's alleged talent level, they've had four consecutive losing seasons during which their combined record has been a stellar 13-35. From freshmen through seniors, that record just screams TALENT.

You act as though your team is going to blow us out. I sure hope your players have the same attitude going in.

RE: Houston to Las Vegas Bowl
I remember thinking he should have kicked that ball through the end zone, they teach you that in that situation for a reason. Do that and the game is still very much in reach and the play is a minor error.

And that long snapper...I could have done better. He missed the kicker/holder by a considerable distance on more than one occasion. You really mean to tell me they had no one else with any experience long snapping? No one else on the team could have done worse.

I couldn't even tell you now what that kid's name is. As I said, at least to my knowledge he never took the field the rest of the year. My guess would be he's one of those guys who is fine on the practice field but can't cut it when it really matters and sometimes you don't find that out until it's too late.

I certainly don't blame our ST coach, Bobby Hauck. Hauck had been the HC at UNLV and Montana previously and he's done a superb job in his two years at SDSU. I'll let pesik check the stats and then come back with some sort of irrational explanation for why I'm wrong about that.

Look at SMU's schedule the last 3 years, they played tcu, Baylor and a&m as ooc games and regularly started 0-3 and most of those years those were top 10 teams.. Now add they played 2 top fcs in the last 3 years as well

Smu has talent but not enough to beat the type of teams they regularly play.. June Jones always complained about it that, that you can't build a program with monster OOC every year
SMU's records are always deceiving ( itll be interesting going forward, tcu and Baylor are the only hard games they are trying to keep, and neither are what they used to be. & they replaced a&m with unt)

But no surprise a sdsu fan doesn't care about strength of schedule, just flat record ..

And I'm not calling blowout, we just lost a coach no clue how anyone reacts to that but if we play our regular game, I'm not sure how sdsu scores..,dalvin cook came in last bowl season doing 6 yards a carry, he left doing .6yd in that game.. Lamar Jackson 2 worst games(he's a runner) were vs UH..perine and mixon for Oklahoma both do a 100yds a game finished with less than 70 combined..more proven running teams couldnt run on us

Memphis laid the blueprint to beat us, quick passes and air raid type football (get rid of the ball to the corners before our pass rush reaches).. That isn't sdsus game

LV has you guys favored by 3 and I would have set the line at about 7.

SMU's only other home win was over Liberty, which is basically a evangelical version of the University of Phoenix, by a whopping 15 points. In that game, your supposedly devastating rush defense gave up 178 yards on the ground and 4.5 ypc to a team which averaged just 189 and 4.1 per game during its 5-7 season. So please stop trying to say that wasn't a really bad loss. And please stop implying your team is going to stop SDSU's rushing attack cold. Because it was and you aren't.

we literally just talked about this,
from the stretch of navy to tulane we lost 3 of our best lbs for for games (smu in that stretch)

--steven taylor (first team all conference LB, was midseason defensive player of the year), missed navy for suspension and came of the bench for smu (as his punishment)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qQIbN3R0sI

--tyus bowers (second team all conference, despite missing 6 games from an eye injury) leads the league in sacks per game

but if you'd rather compare yourself to us injured, instead of how we played healthy, despite the fact we are playing you healthy, go for it

and you keep pointing to who did smu beat..point to me ONE bad smu loss,
your logic is stupid..if i played bama, ohio state and clemson and beat liberty in your definition im a trash team..south alabama lost to 2 non bowl eligible sunbelt teams

baylor offered smus coach the job (he turned them down, not enough money) and he is also the front runner if A&M fires their coach, everyone with sense knows smu is a average team who likes to schedule hard games in OOC (something sdsu has no clue about)

Deduct the 66 yard run last Saturday by Wyoming's Brian Hill and SDSU gave up 8 yards more rushing yards per game than Houston. As it was, you were #3, we were #17. I might also point out that your KO and punt return averages paled in comparison to ours and in each measured category, our kicker has been superior to yours. So at least checking the stats, our STs have been superior.

Also, with due respect, your team has already totally divorced itself from any distractions resulting from the loss of your HC? OK, if you say so.

... lol... Relax, I'm okay with this matchup vs SDSU, I get to travel to a nice west coast destination.

RE: Houston to Las Vegas Bowl
Las Vegas is too commercial these days. It used to be the LA equivalent of what New York is to the Hamptons.
