I do remember Southern Miss from the late 90's. They could hang with almost anyone. If there is ever an opening in the AAC, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing them back.

Got to stop comparing Apples to Oranges. UCF is a huge school, I think 63,000 students, and located in Orlando. You better have a big crowd. WKU is in Bowling Green and has 20,000 students. Yes the attendance should have been better today but like they say "it's a work in progress". CUSA will be better next year for sure. Everybody needs to do their part. Congrats to WKU for winning their 2nd championship!

Put this man on the AAC realignment committee...03-lmfao

EVERYONE has congratulated WKU for winning their 2nd championship (and deservedly so)...but if that "crowd" at the game doesn't concern you...along with a crappy TV contract, teams who couldn't fill up a 15,000 seat stadium, looked upon now as worse than the MAC and probably the Sunbelt...then go ahead and shout, "all is well!" and put your collective heads in the sand...03-banghead

We need schools to either chit or get off the crapper...03-lmfao

The same brethren that was playing #3 Boise, #18 Fresno, #15 Hawaii. Even the depleted WAC had 3 teams ranked in the top 25. So I think we have a good idea that Houston was ovverrated especially since we led them 35-7. 04-cheers

Just in case you don't know....

the 90s are long gone. Damn I don't know why people want to keep reliving 20+ years ago. Well I guess I can because that's all they have these days.

The 1990 S. Miss did not have to compete against 10 or 15 schools from the southern area for recruits. Today they can't out recruit Troy freaking St. Or hell a Western Kentucky, that's did more in the past 6 seasons than S. Miss did in the last 20.

So yea I can see why they want to bring up long gone days of yesteryear. It's all they have.

Again I will point out that S. Miss had the 103rd rated schedule from 2011 and Houston was 104....

out 120 schools

So unless the SOS has changed and I'm fairly sure it hasn't. CUSA was not as strong as they seem to remember. BTW Houston did not finish 7th. They finished 18th and dropped to 20th after getting beat by S. Miss.

Yes that is how much the people voting in the polls thought of S. Miss and CUSA in 2011.

It's almost unheard of for a team to drop from 7th to 20th. Well that is unless they get beat by a team that no one respects. To the people voting in the polls....

a loss to S. Miss was awful. No worse than awful.

So again lets put this in context

2014 Marshall drops from 18th to 19th, still 1 spot higher than Houston after losing to S. Miss. That's after getting beat at home to a 6-5 (at the time) Western team.

Yeah, they really respected CUSA in 2011

facts are your friend. Well that is unless you are living in wonderland of long gone years

Oh...so that's why Houston was overrrated, because you LED THEM 35-7? 03-lmfao

Maybe you have something there, my friend.

Good golly Miss Molly...NO ONE says Boise, Fresno or Hawaii were bad teams...BUT...how many times did you win THAT conference?

Again....and pretend you have a lie detector on you...WOULD YOU RATHER play Houston, Tulsa, Tulane (of course you would), ECU, UCF, SMU----OR----Sweet Charlotte, FL International Airport, UTSA, NTSU, FIU?

No one says that will ever happen again...you know it and USM fans know it...but we ain't saying those teams are overrrated or comparable to what we have now..04-cheers

What we really need is for schools to win some games...

S. Miss is 19-43 since 2011

Lets put that in context...don't you love context? Western has 3 more wins in this season and last year than S. Miss in the last 5.

S. Miss is getting beat at home to 3rd place SBC schools and a school that did not have a football program 5 years ago.

Now let that sink in...a school that did not play football 5 years ago is not beating a muddhole in S. Miss on your home field

19-43
19-43
19-43
19-43
19-43

But you always have

Let me explain it in a way you can understand

Houston #7 plays S. Miss

S. Miss beats Houston

The next poll Houston drops to #20 and finishes at #18

So how much did the people voting think of S. Miss or for that matter Houston and CUSA?

Surely even you can figure that one out. Or do you need pictures?

So..besides a big fat "way to go", do you get anything else for "being ahead 34-7" when you LOSE? 03-lmfao

I think I'd stop bragging about losing a 27 point lead...

Here's your pictures but you will still need someone to explain them to you. So let me help you.

Houston drops 13 spots in the polls by losing to #24 S. Miss. I would guess that is one of the largest drop in the AP by getting beat by a ranked school
[Image: 2011ho_zpsto9vh1ge.jpg]

S. Miss beats the #7 ranked team in the AP poll and moves up TWO SPOTS...TWO SPOTS. Again I would think this is one of the smallest jumps for beating a #7 ranked team.

So to a normal person it clearly shows the voters had very little respect for either CUSA school.

Let me guess now you will need a paint by number picture? Oh wait...that's what I just gave you

Yes the glory years of CUSA 2.0 03-lmfao

So..besides a big fat "way to go", do you get anything else for "being ahead 34-7" when you LOSE? 03-lmfao

I think I'd stop bragging about losing a 27 point lead...

we should have got the W

Understand...just like we shoulda been in the AAC..

So we DO agree...04-cheers

Win more in the current CUSA and maybe you'll can move to the ACC

1) maybe if we played La Tech every year we WOULD be in the AAC...(USM 34-15)
2) when the move happened, we were 129-61 against our long-time C-USA rivals...can't do much better than that. How crappy we are now is irrelevant..04-cheers
