I do remember Southern Miss from the late 90's. They could hang with almost anyone. If there is ever an opening in the AAC, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing them back.
Just in case you don't know....
the 90s are long gone. Damn I don't know why people want to keep reliving 20+ years ago. Well I guess I can because that's all they have these days.
The 1990 S. Miss did not have to compete against 10 or 15 schools from the southern area for recruits. Today they can't out recruit Troy freaking St. Or hell a Western Kentucky, that's did more in the past 6 seasons than S. Miss did in the last 20.
So yea I can see why they want to bring up long gone days of yesteryear. It's all they have.
Again I will point out that S. Miss had the 103rd rated schedule from 2011 and Houston was 104....
out 120 schools
So unless the SOS has changed and I'm fairly sure it hasn't. CUSA was not as strong as they seem to remember. BTW Houston did not finish 7th. They finished 18th and dropped to 20th after getting beat by S. Miss.
Yes that is how much the people voting in the polls thought of S. Miss and CUSA in 2011.
It's almost unheard of for a team to drop from 7th to 20th. Well that is unless they get beat by a team that no one respects. To the people voting in the polls....
a loss to S. Miss was awful. No worse than awful.
So again lets put this in context
2014 Marshall drops from 18th to 19th, still 1 spot higher than Houston after losing to S. Miss. That's after getting beat at home to a 6-5 (at the time) Western team.
Yeah, they really respected CUSA in 2011
facts are your friend. Well that is unless you are living in wonderland of long gone years
