At this point I'm thinking Vandy is the one filling your stadium.

Vandy brought about 100 fans to that game....People came out because an almighty SEC team was coming in and the opponent name recognition was good enough to get the 7k of the casual fans in BG to not make excuses and actually come to the game...When we have North Texas, ODU, La. Tech, those 7k fans are not coming unless its Homecoming and we attract 2 or 3k of those fans just due to HC festivities...

Takes a lot of time and hard work by ALOT of people that care a whole lot to grow the fan base. But what WKU has going for it is a winning football team. That is #1 thing you need to start growing. Now you just need the man power to really push it.

I think WKU can do it because it has a winning program. But it may take years.

Vandy fans don't even travel to Bridgestone Arena on Lower Broad for a MBB Game (3.5 miles from their campus) if they are facing anybody but another SEC school. They don't travel to the Boro to play MT in FB. So, they sure aren't going to go 60 miles to play Western. SAD BUT TRUE. Face it. we all have to grow our own Fan Base by winning and promo, and getting the occasional Cartel5 school (other than Vandy) to come to our respective stadiums.

Are you trying to say that most of the teams they played were 'baaaaaaaad'?

I'll see myself out.

RE: WKU now 21-1
I'm happy for WKU. They were truly awful just a few years ago and really struggled when they first started playing FBS. It gives me a lot of hope knowing that ODU is light-years ahead of WKU at the same stage in our respective programs' histories.

ODU is certainly ahead of our schedule. We made a terrible hire after Harbaugh retired and the transition masked just how bad he was. By the time we were full-fledged FBS we had hit rock bottom. Taggart had one bad season before we were winning again. It is pretty damn easy to win here (great support from the AD and President, as well as great facilities), and we did have some solid FCS/1-AA/whatever the hell football was before divisions split it up success to fall back on. The fact that you guys are where you are having just restarted the program in 2009 speaks volumes.
