I also think that Temple's rise in the MAC and continued improvement in the AAC shows there isn't that much of a difference between the conferences.

That is why this whole CFP ranking system is so stupid. Good football teams are good football teams.

There is a pretty big difference between the MAC and AAC..

There isn't a big difference between any conference these days.

Kansas would have finished at the bottom of the MAC.

The difference comes in with the Top 25 teams and other teams with good records.

Agreed. Here are two guys talking on a Temple forum (real quotes). How quickly they forget:

MAC vs AAC thread
1st guy: I find it ironic that a team from the MAC will likely beat us out for the Cotton Bowl.
2nd guy: A team from the MAC beat our ass in a bowl game last year...

I dunno, I think that's reaching. Northwestern and Illinois are far from Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin's level. Seeing how well Ohio held WMU in check makes me think they may not matchup well with a P5 team that has a good defense.

Northwestern lost at Ohio State by 4 points. Last year NW was 10-2 with a win over Stanford.

Since leaving the MAC, Temple has done two things for us. First they paid an exit fee, now they put an end to discussion of sending WM to the Cotton Bowl. Thanks, Owls$$$$.

Reaching again. NIU almost beat Ohio State last year and we got wrecked in the MAC Championship and destroyed by Boise State.

I'm gonna come off as a troll but don't get carried away. Take it for what it's worth and celebrate the end result.

I'm personally glad an undefeated team isn't going to get screwed any more than it already is by not being allowed to compete for the title in its sport.

Question for C2: How do you rationalize using a Memphis helmet for an icon and yet list Houston as "your" team?

BTW, that game was a disaster for Navy.

Not only did they get blown out, but on one play their QB and slot receiver both broke bones in their foot.

Being that Memphis beat Houston it may be because he lost a bet? But that is purely speculation on my part.

Yes. Avatar bets.

And you're welcome.

RE: Thank You, Temple Owls!
AAC and MAC should stick together. The committee would have screwed the AAC if they had a chance. Look at Houston. They beat 2 top 10 teams and were ranked well below a lot of brand name teams that hadn't beaten anyone in the top 10 and in some cases only had 1 top 25 win - and that was before they lost to Memphis. Good football is good football. A good MAC or AAC or MWC team can beat anyone. they might not be as consistently dominant as some of the better P5 teams but they beat them. houston beat the snot out of the Big12 champ and embarrassed the 2nd best ACC team. Last year Toledo physically kicked the as$ of one of the better SEC teams. yes, wisconsin is big and strong. if WMU plays sloppy wisconsin will control them, but if WMU plays as sharp as they have most games this year it will be tight, and, honestly, the way temple is playing if their coach wasn't bailing they could have competed with anyone outside of Bama in a bowl.
