Football season is over...
So I am going to assume that no news is bad news when it comes to the football team. If Haynes was going to be fired he would've been let go already. Unless they were waiting to see if WMU was going to the Cotton Bowl which would get the school some extra money to cover the termination fee.

Have I missed any articles about replacing members on the staff?

We're the school where football goes to die, not coaches. I'm disgusted by football under Haynes, but more so the status of the athletic department under Joel, but nothing is going to change.

NEWS FLASH!
Purdue University has not, I repeat, has not ask for permission to speak with Coach Haynes. Rumors are running rampant that no one else has secured permission to pursue the Coach.

Hate to break it to you guys, but KSU isn't a place where we pay coaches not to coach. We aren't firing a basketball or football coach before their contract is up unless we can get out of paying them somehow.

I agree with you there, but that just means that we are relegated to the same old same old. This policy is OK if we have a sharp AD hiring the coaches.

We could at least get a new OC to make the games tolerable to watch.

Agree entirely - been saying this for two years. Look at All MAC team and we placed several on the defensive 1st thru 3rd teams but not a single offensive player anywhere. Seems ashamed that the seniors gave us several years of solid defensive efforts that could have produced multiple wins (0.500 seasons) with just an average offense. Probably along with the OC -some position coaches also may need to go - haven't seen progress at any offensive positions either.

Haynes just got the kiss of death. As reported in the Record Courier today, AD Nielson stated that Haynes is still our coach and that no backdoor searches have been going on. However, a publication publicized that KSU and Haynes are working on parting ways. Step number one is usually an administration denial. Stay tuned.

That is a somewhat incorrect reporting of what happened. Football Scoop reported that Haynes had been fired and Joel publicly said that report was inaccurate and that he was still the coach at KSU (which, of course, is true). Usually the kiss of death is the dreaded, "vote of confidence".

This is my second year supporting the Kent State program due to my son being on the team. I agree with replacing the OC if Haynes is not going to be replaced. Second the DC has to make better defensive calls. There is talent on the team that is not being utilized. This makes me question does Haynes and staff know what they are doing. I have questioned this at the beginning of the year. Lastly, he has to instigate winning attitude for himself if he expect the guys to buy in. I just pray that next year is not a repeat of the previous few years.
If it ant working change it!!

With the exception of literally a handful of seasons, what you have seen the last two seasons is basically the way it has been for the last 45 years.

But hey, things could change! Next year could be the year!

Nice to hear from you FreshmanDad. I was a fan of OC Brian Rock. For some reason, some on this board wanted him replaced so we ended up with what we have. Rock was the OC during our 11-3 season just a few years ago. I thought that he utilized the weapons at hand and called some near perfect games. I completely agree with your views. It bothers me that it appears that Haynes has the OC that he wanted.

If Treadwell isn't replaced then we can safely assume that Haynes won't be fighting to keep his job.

Thanks guys, I will be there next year with some optimism, if they read this let me give my 2 cents. You don't have the right offensive for your personal. Put a lead blocker in the back field and give George a chance to play. You have/had tall receivers use them, use the speed I know you have on the sideline, stop going eat and west go North.
Watch Brain Rock season to get some ideas on calling plays! We come from a winning high school program, we use the best players not who we like!,
Now on to basketball!

Yes, I agree. George, IMO, is the best QB on the team. He has a D1 body and arm. He just needs the right system and experience. The coaches have really mishandled the QB position. Hope they get smart over the winter and summer.

I haven't seen enough of any of the Qbs to make an informed comment - but I agree we haven't used players or coached them to their potential. I saw B Fackler play in high school - he was a stud and I was so excited when he signed with the Flashes -he was rarley used after Casey graduated.

Play calling in one thing ... a big thing ...but not the only thing ... Bollas is nowhere near a D! QB short of size ... he runs slow and reads slow ... there's a reason two freshmen beat him out and my guess is those two freshmen (who both looked good before injury) are at the top of the food chain going into spring ... with Holley.

For better or worse, Kent appears to want a power football team ... therefore the offensive line by far is the bigger concern both for starters and for depth ... Kent had a four-year starter (Wayne Scott) who was never a top tier all-MAC player on the OL.

Four years of average at best???

Got to get better than that. ... WAAAYYYY better.

Cleveland, we will agree to disagree. I will remind you that Bollas was the leading rusher as a freshman QB. That was with a dismal OL. I imagine that both of us would agree that the QB position has been mishandled.

Paul Haynes is a nice guy who loves his school but he is in over his head. He's not a good judge in talent, he can't hire good assistants and he's not a leader of men.
