Where does Tech or USM land?
Nothing official but our bowl tie-ins are filling up quickly.

UTSA- NM
ODU- Bahamas
WKU- Boca
MTSU- Hawaii
HoD- UNT
NO-?

That leaves USM and Tech with NO remaining. I don't believe Indy will be available.

Tech has a long history of being left out of bowl games. We are probably sitting home.

Touché. Well y'all might be a conference champ so that makes sense.

You didn't hear? We are going to the Liberty Bowl to play Iowa State and the Independence Bowl is our back-up

This situation is totally bogus. The conference should insist on the HoD bowl taking either LT or WKU first of all. I also doubt that UNT at 5-7 and a season ending spectacular loss to a bad UTEP team, will sell as many tickets as UNT fans think. I want UNT in a bowl since 5-7 teams are needed this year but not the HoD bowl.

RE: Where does Tech or USM land?
The conference by-laws state that all 7-5 teams will be placed in a CUSA Blow before 6-6. At least that's what I heard Western's AD say after Western beat Marshall 3 seasons ago. He said Western was 100% assured of a CUSA bowl spot no matter if someone later that night won to go to 6-6

So unless there's a bowl game open that a team considered higher ranking that is not one of CUSA's bowls.....

Tech and Western will have a spot in a CUSA connected bowl. So if Tech wins today or Western wins the other will have a bowl game. It will be a CUSA bowl or one perceived to be higher ranking

The difference is the WAC only had one bowl bid...and we didn't win the championship. We were totally on our own. This time the conference has six bowl bids and as a 7+ win team, we're guaranteed a bowl. If we aren't in a CUSA bowl, it'll be because the conference has a better opportunity lined up for us.

I agree. I know some are mad about North Texas likely going to the HOD, but that's probably only possible because our champ is being slotted for a bigger game outside our current bowl ties. We should know tomorrow.

I would like to think the league is smart enough to put the best teams against the best opponents. I think either Tech or Western is getting set up for a cage match against Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Not sure if serious or making fun of USM fans in 2011.

I think he's referring to us missing out on a bowl in 2013 when we were wrongly accused of turning down the Indy Bowl because ULM was in it.

That situation in 2012 was garbage. Darn good team that got screwed.

Tech was offered a spot in the Independence bowl but kept delaying their acceptance until the I Bowl quit waiting and proceeded to invite another team. Did Tech ever explain why they delayed and didnt accept the offer other than the SPECULATION that they didnt want to play ULM?

We were expecting an invite from the Liberty bowl but a P5 that wasn't supposed to be eligible (Iowa State) pulled an upset and got eligible....even then...they wouldn't invite Iowa State to have a rematch of a regular season game (vs. Tulsa). You know the rest of the story.
