Western Michigan wins around 7 (maybe 8) games a year in this conference. The increase in funds would offset the inability to recruit NQs. The program understands how to win - much like a few other AAC schools.

I don't think they fit the university profile, but they're good enough.

Not true. We've had a couple good years in-between. 8W+ counting good (while playing P5s OOC).

Every year there is a new MAC school that wins 11-13 games and you never heard about the team from the prior year because the coach is gone.

I don't remember them. When I say good, I mean ranked or threatening to be ranked, like Ben Roethlisberger's last Miami team. That was the last really good MAC team imo. If Western wins the Cotton Bowl or at least shows, I'll agree.

Ball State and Northern Illinois have had some good years since Big Ben's Miami team.

Your doormat just won the AAC championship. Lol. BTW, temple is 0-6 against WMU.

I don't get it with some AAC fans. Always needing to tell yourself that you are the best G5, instead of making the better point that the distinction between the P5 and the G5 is far less than advertised, and in most years the better G5 teams in any of the g5 leagues would compete well in the P5 conferences.

The G5 folks should be all on the same page, but so many of the AAC people spend most time arguing that you all are winning the tallest midget contest.

It's all relative, and a realy good G5 is really good regardless of the conference. Disparaging WMU this year is a little goofy, and manifests itself as insecurity.

You don't remember because you are blinded by false arrogance. Northers Illinois has had some fantastic teams, including an Orange Bowl. Last year they came within a hair of beating Ohio St on the road. The MAC has lower football budgets, but regularly has several outstanding teams, and has certainly made its mark. WMU has built something over the last few years, but others have done well too.

Get over yourself little man.

RE: Western Michigan to the AAC!
No reason to expand past 12, but I will say that I was impressed with the crowd WMU brought to the MAC championship. Most G5s (and a few P5s) wouldn't bring those types of crowds in the same situation. That may be the difference between WMU and other MAC darlings - the fan support and the momentum from a Cotton Bowl bid might keep them going as a MAC power when Fleck leaves.

RE: Western Michigan to the AAC!
I think the AAC would be a detriment to WMU. The reason they're winning is because they've been able to recruit the best in the MAC. An advantage of being in a geographic conference is that you can realistically go for the best recruits that everyone else in the conference wants. You win those battles a couple years in a row and eventually you'll have the best team.

WMU, like the MAC, is way overrated. Just wait and watch the bowl games this season involving the lightweight MAC teams.

the only school you want from the MAC is the one that hasn't won their own division in football in 13 years and hasn't sent their men's bball program to the dance since 1980?

Ball State and Northern Illinois have had some good years since Big Ben's Miami team.

That Ball State team under Brady Hoke wasn't legit, which is why they got clowned the way they did in the MAC title game by Turner Gill's Buffalo team (it was so weak that he was promoted a P5 gig because of a championship game upset). I purposefully didn't include them. NIU's Jordan Lynch teams were solid but overall, there hadn't been a really good MAC team since Big Ben was in Oxford.

I'm talking about Western Michigan's supposed good teams, not Northern Illinois or any other MAC team. Their last real good team was the one that should have beaten Marshall, as seen live at the time on ABC, in the MAC title game but lost. They blew a 23-0 lead the year before.

Toledo, Akron (because of the new stadium and proximity to Cleveland), NIU and SUNY-Buffalo all have potential. The rest...eh...Kent has some great history in basketball over the last 20 years and is also close to Cleveland but...eh, no one else jumps out as a hot candidate. Maybe Ohio because they actually sound like a state flagship but I can't stand that shade of green.
